Welcome to the latest incarnation of St.

Louis’ CSI’s venerable voice for building

knowledge, the Spectator.

As with most chapter products this one

relies on Sponsorships. Our chapter has a

wealth of expertise and Sponsorship helps

make sure that our readers remember who

you are and what you do when they need

to make design decisions. Our audience will

grow from our current membership and

engage professionals from all parts of the

industry.

Our membership can also use the Spec-

tator to share knowledge in the form of

articles and useful links. We will collect arti-

cles and offer free or reduced Sponsorship

opportunities to those that provide useful

content.

Be on the lookout for some updates to

our Chapter’s online presence. In order to

better recognize our sponsors and keep up

with technology the Board is working on a

new website on a new platform. Once roll-

ing this will allow us to better highlight our

supporting members, better advertise

events, better feature technical knowledge,

and better communicate with our members

across different devices. Stay tuned!

2015 is a big year for the Greater St.

Louis Chapter. We’re building quality pro-

grams and sharing quality certifications

training and support. And we’re looking

forward to CONSTRUCT national convention

in our town this fall.

Thanks for being a part of CSI and the

Spectator. Inside this issue you’ll find some

photos of recent happenings, news about

CONSTRUCT and the chapter events sur-

rounding the convention, and recognition

of members sharing their knowledge with

the industry.

Have a great summer and see you at

CONSTRUCT.

Michael Byrd is the Co-Owner and Tech-nical Lead of CORE10 Architecture, an ar-chitecture and interior design firm head-quartered in the Central West End.

Michael was born in San Antonio, TX and grew up in Kansas City, MO. He began col-lege at Rice University as a Civil Engineering major before switching to architecture and completing his B. Arch at Texas Tech Uni-versity. After graduating Michael and his wife Tracey moved to St. Louis.

His first job in St. Louis was at PGAV, help-ing draft and design the $15M South Veldt exhibit at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. He then moved on to Archimages where he completed construction drawings for the Bob Costas Cancer Center at Cardinal Glen-non and prepared a master plan for the 1.5M sf Gateway District USPS headquar-ters on Market Street. In 1999 Michael joined Schwetye Architects in Clayton and became Senior Project Manager before eventually purchasing the firm with partner Tyler Stephens.

In 2007 Michael and Tyler renamed the firm CORE10 Architecture and began a practice in unique commissions for private clients. Projects of note include the Demun Pointe Condominiums on Clayton Road, Washington University’s Tyson Research Center, Expansions to Central Presbyterian Church, multiple restaurants and commer-cial projects, the new Loop Trolley Head-quarters, and the upcoming Greentree Community Church in Kirkwood.

In 2014 a friend invited Michael to join CSI and he immediately realized that this or-ganization could help him run his business and projects much better. He studied for and passed the CDT with the help of the Chapter’s study sessions and professional members. Now Michael has taken on the role of office Specifier as well as Technical Lead and QA/QC Manager. Michael looks forward to earning his CCS and plans on encouraging his office staff to pursue CDT and CCA certifications as well. CSI continues to help him improve his practice and re-duce professional risk.
