COMMUNITY GATHERING PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW WCR49 ACCESS CONTROL PLAN

WELD COUNTY, CO – The Board of Weld County Commissioners, along with the communities of Kersey, Hudson and Keenesburg, will be hosting a Weld County Road 49 Access Control Plan Review Meeting on August 28, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting, which will be held at the Big Foot Turf Farm located at 22455 Weld County Road 49, is an

opportunity for residents along the 49 Corridor to review the access management plan and road improvements proposed by the County.

“The goal of the plan is to preserve and enhance the functional integrity of the road,” said Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer, who represents the Commissioners on the WCR 49 Advisory Committee. “Last year we met with residents to discuss the needs and issues concerning the 49 corridor. We put those suggestion and needs together in a comprehensive plan that local residents will be able to review before the plan is put into motion.”

The WCR 49 Access Control Plan Policy Advisory Committee, which consists of elected officials from Weld County, Kersey, Keenesburg and Hudson, as well as county staff will be in attendance at the meeting to answer questions about the plan and to provide information about the future of Weld County Road 49.

The Committee will also be honoring those community members who have worked to improve the corridor with “Safety Awards.”

“The 49 Corridor is a major roadway for not only our residents but also for our oil and gas and agricultural industries,” said Hudson Mayor Neal Pontius. “It is important we do what we can to ensure people and goods can move efficiently and safely through this corridor.”

Residents interested in attending should call Francie Collins at [email protected] or call 970-304-6496 ext. 3763 by 5:00 p.m. August 21, 2013.
