ScholarshipsA variety of Redlands Foundation scholarships are available. Each scholarship has specific selection criteria and guidelines. Students submit one online application for multiple scholarships. The selection committee considers each applicant for all applicable scholarships. For a complete list of scholarships, please go to redlandscc.edu/scholarships

Oklahoma’s PromiseOne advantage to using your Oklahoma’s Promise scholarship at Redlands is your funding will go further. Recently, Redlands combined the cost of tuition and standard fees into one simple amount. This means that when you choose to attend Redlands as an Oklahoma’s Promise student you will have fewer out-of-pocket expenses.

Financial AidThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the most important form you can fill out to help make college affordable. Complete the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov/ Complete your application before March 1 for the best opportunity to receive financial aid. When completing the FAFSA, enter the Redlands school code 003156 to ensure we receive your information.

LoansWhile loans can help you realize the college dream, keep in mind that these loans must be paid back with interest. There are two basic types of college loans: subsidized and unsubsidized. A subsidized loan is need based and interest does not start until after you graduate; unsubsidized loans are not need based and interest starts building as soon as you get the loan, even if you are still in school. The good news is you can defer payment of

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------How to Pay

that interest until after you graduate. Let’s say during your college career, you take $10,000 in loans with 6.8% interest. Once you graduate, you will be required to pay back that $10,000 PLUS the interest. If it takes you 10 years to pay the loan back, you will pay an additional $3,809.66 in interest. If you go to an expensive school and your student loans are $50,000 at the same interest rate, you pay back an extra $19,048.28! Your monthly payment on a loan that large would be almost $600 a month! That is why it is best to keep loans to a minimum and focus on getting scholarships, grants and tuition waivers. Redlands is affordable, if you do have to take out a loan, it will most likely be a more manageable amount.

FACTS Payment PlanFACTS allows you to pay off your school debt in monthly payments without paying any interest. Yes, that’s right 0% interest! The balance must be paid off before the next semester, so FACTS is best for small to moderate amounts owed. The sooner you sign up, the longer you will have to pay off the outstanding amount. For example, if you owe $800 and sign up for FACTS at the beginning of June, you will be allowed to pay off the $800 in 6 payments ($133 a month). If you sign up for FACTS in September, you will only get 2 months to pay off the $800 ($400 a month).
