cream glaze uses a bright white glaze to provide subtle highlights over an off-white base paint. butterscotch glaze uses a light brown glaze to provide prominent highlights over an off-white base paint. hazelnut glaze uses a deep brown glaze that is wiped over a warm-white painted surface to create a vivid contrast.

The glazes on our painted maple finishes are hand-applied, so no two doors will look exactly alike. And while the door front and edges are completely concealed by the base, some wood grain may show on the door back.

Decorative hardware is required and must be ordered separately.

All cabinet materials are graded to industry standard but variations should be expected:

cherry

Cherry is a closed-grain hardwood with uniform texture, known for its warmth and distinctive characteristics such as curly figures and pin knots. The natural color of cherry ranges from pale yellow sapwood to deep reddish brown heartwood. From the time it is cut and exposed, cherry begins to darken in color. This grad-ual change gives the wood its reputation of warmth and charm. Cherry is particularly attractive when stained a deep, rich color.

oak

Oak is an open-grained hardwood with varying patterns ranging from straight grain to wide arcs. When stained, there is a noticeable differ-ence in the color shades between the open and closed grain areas of the wood. Wood cut from the heartwood will range from pink to reddish brown. Because of the distinct character of the grain, oak is one of the most popular wood spe-cies used for cabinetry.

maple

Maple is an extremely hard wood with a fine, even texture. The natural color of maple is a light to cream-colored sapwood. Although it has uniform and straight grain, it may exhibit special markings such as wavy, curly, bird’s eye or burl graining. Maple may also reveal min-eral streaks and worm tracking across the grain when it is stained. These characteristics are natural and are not considered defects.

hickory

Hickory is a heavy hardwood and when finished has a warm, appealing appearance. Distinctive color streaks of red heartwood and white sapwood combine with knots and other characteristics to create a dramatic appearance. While some parts are clear, it is the variations in hickory that are an in-herent part of its charm and are considered a desirable part of the total look.

Thermofoil is a process whereby a thick vinyl film is bonded perma-nently to a warp-resistant engineered wood core. Because the color is throughout the film, the surface is durable, easy to clean and especially resistant to chipping and cracking.

choose your material

it’s a fact of nature:no two pieces of wood are exactly alike — even from the same tree. these variations contribute to the beauty and distinction of natural woods. yet, it is important to understand what to expect.

A We start with hand-selected, premium-grade hardwood lumber. Individual components are triple sanded with progressively finer grit. This allows us to

reach those difficult to reach areas before doors are assembled.

B After assembly, an inspection is conducted for conformance to demanding specs, then a pre-stain is applied to certain “sensitive” colors in order to assure

the desired finish.

C A penetrating layer of stain is applied using a spray/brush combination. With an artisan’s touch, stains on cherry and glaze finishes are hand rubbed into

the wood allowing the grain pattern to come to life.

D Two coats of a high-solids sealer are applied during the finishing process to tighten and fill the grain and provide a layer of “build” to the finish that adds a

deep, rich luster. After each coat the cabinets are lightly sanded.

E Finally, our exclusive formula of Rel-Plaz II® topcoat is applied and baked on to protect all layers. After final inspection and testing for chemical resistance,

water penetration, mar and abrasion, this process is complete.

void door cabinet optionThe Void Door Option means cabinets will ship without doors, battens or hinges. Since stiles are pre-drilled for hinges, molding is used to provide a finished look. Choose from three moldings to be cut and field installed.

CushionClose® hinge optionThe CushionClose® Hinge Option features a slow closing mechanism that helps reduce door slams and noise, and is available on Portfolio Select® and Portfolio® Series.
