For decades, GITA’s Oil & Gas Pipeline Conference & Exhibition has provided an invaluable forum for oil and gas pipeline industry professionals to interact with each other on a personal basis. For the first time, the Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) User Conference and the 23rd Annual GITA Oil & Gas Pipeline Conference & Exhibition came together to form Pipeline Week.
The 10th Annual PODS User Conference took place October 28th and 29th and included a robust program of Operator presentations, workshops, training, and round-table discussions focusing on leveraging the PODS Standard. Running simultaneously, GITA’s Oil & Gas Pipeline Conference hosted an operator forum, a number of dynamic panel discussions, and numerous networking functions.
Pipeline Week encouraged the free flow of ideas with a wide range of viewpoints. In conjunction with the conferences, a sold-out exhibition hall showcased technology, equipment, and services vital to the oil and gas pipeline industry.
The 2014 event attracted a record number of 931 attendees. Fifty four exhibitors displayed their products and services on the sold-out exhibit hall floor of 5,120 square feet.

OPERATORS FORUM - Discovery Center
Based on the PHMSA advanced notice of rule-making announcement that came out this spring, it is clear that the minimum requirements of the National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) are going to change. An expectation of vastly increased location accuracy, more complete physical attribution data, and the addition of pipeline operational data makes for a far more involved NPMS submittal. It is clear in this “brave new world” that robust, integrated GIS infrastructure is necessary to better respond to these changes. Join us at the Operators Forum and share your thoughts and experiences with other like-minded industry peers in discussing exactly how GIS infrastructure could help and what the impact of these - and other potential - regulations will be.
