MATCH REPORT
P&TG FC 3– 4 Woodley Town
I am not going to dwell on the opening game of the season with many words. It was a disappointing afternoon and it did not go to script. Basically in the first half we missed a hatful of clear cut chances and failed to remember the basic rules of defending. The opposi-tion goal keeper played a blinder and produced a number of outstanding saves.
Woodley Town also missed a penalty. In the second half we continued with the defending theme (or lack thereof) added by a self-imposed absence of a midfield. 40 minutes of very little by us did not help. In the last five minutes of the game we all of a sudden found some urgency and nearly pulled it back from being 1:4 down. We scored twice in the last five minutes (including added time). Woodley Town FC de-served to win the match as they scored more goals than us. If you do not take your chances and do not de-fend you do not win football matches.
