Professional Issues for Practicing Astrologers

Five established professional astrologerswill share how they have succeeded inlaunching their careers in these 30-minutepresentations. They will provide the keysused to organize their consulting work andtell us how they have built their clienteleand achieved financial sustainability. We willlearn what it means to be successful. Useof today’s technology and handling some ofthe consulting tools to achieve optimumoutcomes will be addressed. Looking at avariety of consulting styles may release usfrom the feeling that there is only one“acceptable” way to do our work.

In the afternoon, we divide into small,randomly selected groups, led by an OPAgroup leader to further explore theinformation. Everyone will be able to giveand receive information on each person’schart. Discovering and possibly identifyingyour consulting style may be worth thevoyage. The afternoon will end witheveryone back together with the largergroup for sharing insights.

It will give pointers asto how health can be promoted even in themost challenging of charts, both physicallyand psychologically. Using our own chartswe will explore a range of practical meth-ods for using astrological imagery as ‘diag-nostic’ aids and means of improving health.Beginners in medical astrology and inter-mediate in basic astrology.

TRACK 7 Grace MorrisIntroduction to Financial AstrologyWe'll cover the stock market,stock sectors and individualstocks, look at cycles, suchas economic, business andreal estate cycles and learnhow to use winning strate-gies. Business (and investing) success is amatter of timing. We'll look at the best daysand times to sign, to send out mailings, toset up workshops, to have a businessmeeting, how to set up a chart for signingcontracts, starting a corporation and theright time for an Initial Public Offering (IPO).Learn how to read an incorporation chart,and other important ways to help yourclients. We'll look at your individual chart tosee if long term investing, short term trad-ing or owning a business is the best choicefor you. Beginner, Intermediate, advanced.

TRACK 8 Susan FalkIntegrating Techniques of Gestalt Therapy intoAstrological CounselingSusan will demonstrate sometechniques of gestalt therapyto help the participants gain adeeper understanding of theirpersonality conflicts as re-vealed in their astrological charts and alsohow to integrate different aspects of the

self. The participants will use their owncharts as examples. By the 3rd day they willhave the opportunity to practice using thetechniques with each other's charts and getfeedback from the leader. This group is forintermediate and advanced students. Theparticipants should be practicing astrologers,even if only on a limited basis.

TRACK 9 Robert CorreOPA's Certification TrackOPA's ground-breaking "PeerGroup Work" track leads tounique professional certifica-tion. Using a peer-review-ori-ented process, our goal isinspire, motivate, and build participant con-fidence to do better astrology. (OPA's en-dorsement requires an individual to attendthree weekend retreats where they areevaluated on pass/fail basis by three differ-ent certified group leaders.) Over threedays, each group member is required to:delineate and review their evaluation of adifficult client chart provided by them, fol-lowed by a peer critique of the chart;demonstrate their astrological knowledgeby discussing in turn each group member'schart; share a business plan or set of ex-pectations, written prior to retreat atten-dance, discussing your future goals.Advanced and/or professional astrologers.

TRACK 12 Bob MulliganTranscending PersonalLimitationsOur individual natal chart re-veals our karmic assets and li-abilities. This understandingtransforms our values leadingus to transcend our personal limitations.Day One we evaluate the time line in eachparticipant's chart to understand wheremental, emotional, and physical habitshave led to difficulties. Each person will de-velop a plan of action. Day Two we will lookat moments of crises and spiritual break-throughs. We will examine the role of sexand money in the life of the spiritual aspi-rant. Day Three we will unite our positivequalities to build an inner network of good.We evaluate the role our physical bodyplays in our spiritual life and how its careand treatment can raise our consciousness.

TRACK 13 Arlan WiseWriter's TrackDuring our three sessions to-gether we learn basic journal-ism techniques while using funexercises to practice "translat-ing" astrological symbolisminto plain English. We writepieces of various sizes on astrological topics,read our work to each other and discuss ourwriting without criticizing. We help eachother discover and gain confidence in ourwriting strengths, and encourage each otherto start/continue/finish our personal writingprojects. The goal for the track is that by theend of the conference we each have an arti-cle to submit for publication. This group is foranyone who has a good basic knowledge ofastrology and loves to write.

TRACK 14 Richard Smoot & Victoria PeltzISAR's Consulting SkillsTraining ProgramISAR's Consulting Skills Train-ing is a required componentof the ISAR Certification Pro-gram. However, anyone cantake the training, whether onthe path for ISAR certificationor not. This training empha-sizes role-playing exercisesthat teach empathic commu-nication, reflection, para-phrasing and active listening. Integratedwith the basic principles of chart interpre-tation, these skills provide astrologers anability to respond to their clients' most per-sonal thoughts and feelings and in this wayhelp clients feel better understood. Thistraining emphasizes both empathy skillsand their integration within chart analysis.All levels of astrologers.
