Welcome Cattle Enthusiasts: This has been a truly exciting year for “The Continent.” We started off with a bang by winning the prospect heifer show at the National Western Stock Show, continuing by winning the Grand Champion steer at the Simmental Jr. Nationals and the Kansas Ju-nior Livestock Show, and just recently was crowned National Champion Charolais Bull. These were just highlights of the cattle we sold last year not including the numerous top 5 finishers and breed champions across the nation. I think the best testament for our cattle are the people that have surrounded them for years, helped us design them, got them ready for sales and shows, inspired us to make them better and have fed and bred them to success. If you look around those faces haven’t changed much. This is a multi breed operation that can be described as Capitalism at its best. It’s a competitive environment that these cattle are raised and if they don’t make the top cut we don’t have room for them here. Espe-cially the last few years of high inputs and an aggressive market, it makes no sense to waste time on average ones. In that re-spect you can be confident that these cattle in a more precise management environment 9 times out of 10 work better for you than us. It’s because of this environment that our females especially are crossing with today’s popular sires so well and it’s because of our genetics that many of these sires are work-ing so well.
