Dear Friends, Guests, Performers, and Paddlers,

Welcome to the 14th Annual Houston Dragon Boat Festival! The Filipino Young Professionals of Houston (“FYP”) is honored to co-host this amazing and special event with the Texas Dragon Boat Association (“TDBA”), especially because this year’s showcased country is THE PHILIPPINES. We are excited to share our country and culture with Houston and the dragon boat community.

FYP is a non-profit organization founded five years ago by a handful of members. Today, we celebrate a group that is more than 100 strong consisting of members from different ages, cultures, nationalities, and professions who have interest in the Philippines and/or the Filipino culture. Originally created as an avenue to promote the Filipino culture to young professionals in Houston, FYP has since evolved to engage, connect, and empower professionals from all over the world.

We provide events to raise cultural awareness as well as opportunities for community service and philanthropy, professional networking, personal and professional development, and, more recently, team building through dragon boating. In addition to our events, the passion and camaraderie of our members provide the foundation for the growth and success of our organization.

Dragon boating has particularly shown our group the importance of working, trusting, motivating, and celebrating successes together. That is why it is such an honor to collaborate with the TDBA to celebrate and compete in a sport our members and Texans have come to love.

Thank you to all our guests who join us today and the countless organizers, volunteers, performers, supporters, vendors, donors, and paddlers who made this festival possible. A special thank you to Mr. Arnel Saludares, the FYP event lead for this project.

Salamat po and PADDLES UP!
