There is a lot going on downtown including the opening of a new performing arts centre, revitalization of Martin St. and Westminster Ave., Main Street Matters with Benjamin Moore and the Revitalization of Penticton Creek.

Welcome Back to the Okanagan International Children’s Festival and their incredible line-up of entertainment. The Okanagan International Children’s Festival will highlight a series of Main Stage performers and festival workshops that will appeal to a varied audience. Located in Okanagan Lake Park and Marina Way Park, the grounds for the festival are easily accessible. Join us in May as we collaboratively educate, entertain and engage your kids at the Okanagan International Children’s Festival!

Peach city Beach cruise June 20 - 22, 2014 www.peachcitybeachcruise.com

The Peach City Beach Cruise is a three day car show and one of the largest in BC. Car owners and enthusiasts come from far and wide with their classic, antique and very special cars. They have vendors & live entertainment in Gyro Park on all three days, old boys with old toys in Lakawana Park, and a large collector car auction on Saturday, organized by the Electric Garage.

Elvis tribute artists take part in judged competitions as they compete to be named professional and amateur champions with the finalist entered in the Ultimate Elvis Contest held in Memphis at Graceland. Along with the judged performances, you’ll see some of the most renowned tribute artists in professional live shows.

Every year we celebrate Canada’s birthday Downtown in Gyro Park. The party commences with a pancake breakfast and an open market. Choose from kid’s activities, delicious food vendors or beautiful work from local artisans. At noon we all get to eat birthday cake and sing “O Canada” to kick off the entertainment that will follow all day. The main stage produces all kinds of varied acts, including singing and dancing and it all ends with a big bang - of fireworks!

Bc Day Family Party in the Park August 4, 2014 www.downtownpenticton.org

August 4th we get to celebrate our province with B.C. Day. Last year was our inaugural year of fun and we are bringing it back! Come down to Gyro park and bring your lawn chairs, water bottles and sunscreen. Sit in the grass and enjoy the entertainment, walk around the park and taste the yummy local foods or try a craft or two. This is the ultimate fun family day in the park.

Kiddies Day Parade August 10, 2014 www.downtownpenticton.org

Kids up to and including age 12 are invited to dress up themselves, their tricycles, bicycles, carriages and all manner of transportation and parade down Main Street to Okanagan Lake Park to the ooos, awwws and ahhhs of the crowds that line the sidewalk. Bring your cameras! Judging takes place at the City Centre parking lot, then all the participants will head north on Main Street, east on Lakeshore Drive and into Okanagan Lake Park. Prizes are awarded for several categories from the main stage in Okanagan Lake Park directly after the parade. Entrance forms are available from the Downtown Penticton Association.

Five days featuring fantastic live entertainment including bands, dancers, hypnotist shows, a wide variety of food and merchandise vendors, arts and crafts exhibits, two parades, including the Grande Parade on Saturday and the Kiddies Day Parade on Sunday, along with various competitions and even a square dance festival.

The biggest street party in Penticton! Two stages, street performers, bouncy castles and more fill the streets of downtown Penticton as we celebrate the start of “triathlon weekend” in Penticton and welcome thousands of athletes and their families. Grab some mini-donuts, carbo-load and dance the night away!

Challenge Penticton is the race of a lifetime and the perfect way to train, compete and vacation in paradise. Join athletes from all over the word for the 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and the 42.2km run. Wave starts allow for relay team entries, opening the long-distance triathlon experience to more athletes. Challenge Penticton also features a festival including a week-long celebration of sport and entertainment for the whole family. Not up to participating in the event, but you would still like to be involved? You can always volunteer!

Zombie Walk & costume Parade October 31, 2014 www.downtownpenticton.org

The inaugural Zombie Walk & Costume Parade hosted over 200 kids, adults, and dogs as they made their way down Main Street in their Halloween best. On October 31st, Main Street will be filled with zombie’s and other creatures again this year to start the Halloween celebration. Businesses open their doors to participate in handing out delicious treats as the parade passes by. This year will be even bigger - with more costumes than ever.

Last year was the Downtown Penticton’s first EVER Black Friday and due to an overwhelming popular demand we are bringing it back! Over 30 businesses in Downtown Penticton participated in 2013’s Black Friday promotion. Businesses will offer special Black Friday only deals to their customers on November 28, 2014. A complete list of participating businesses and their specials can be found below on our website... let’s keep the shopping local!

Come Downtown for our annual Winter Festival which gets bigger every year. We have our Christmas Vendors “pop-up” in warm store fronts. Live animals at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian’s “Walk to Bethlehem,” movies at the local community theatre and take advantage of the great Christmas deals going on Downtown. On Saturday it’s time to say hello to Mr and Mrs Claus during the annual Royal Lepage Santa Claus Parade. What a great way to spend a weekend!
