We will use Reading Street as a resource. The spelling and vocabulary words are pulled from the story we read each unit in Reading Street.Reading selections from Reading Street include fiction, fables, folktales, mythology, non-fiction, biography, and poetry. Our class will also be reading various picture books, non-fiction reading passages, and novels. We will be reading all the time!

There will be no AR this year at OSUE. We have replaced Renaissance with iReady.

I will be using Book Adventure in my classroom to motivate students to read. It is a program where students take quizzes on books they’ve read and earn rewards. (This won’t be taken for a grade)

Reading journals will be used for independent reading.

Students should be reading 20 minutes EVERY Night! Don’t forget to make it fun !

Our Brunch time is 10:10 and our recess time is 10:40. On Monday and Tuesday, Ms. Hirsch’s homeroom starts the day in Math and finishes the day in LA. The reverse is true for Mrs. Webber’s homeroom. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Ms. Hirsch’s kiddos start the day with her. And again the reverse is true for Mrs. Webber’s homeroom.
