The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities® is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children in the Ozarks. Our cornerstone project is the Ronald McDonald House®… providing a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill and injured children hospitalized in Springfield. Since 1988, we’ve provided hope and comfort at our first House near Cox South for more than 8,700 families. On November 30, 2012, we opened Springfield’s second Ronald McDonald House on the 6th floor of Mercy Children’s Hospital and have already welcomed over 700 families.

The Tooth Truck (our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®) provides dental treatment, prevention education and a daily tooth-brushing program for at risk children, primarily in school-based settings. We’ve helped over 16,600 children with 41,000 dental appointments and treatment valued at $9.6 million since July 2002.

Construction of the Hvmboldt Mansion took place from 1902-1904 by original owner, Paul Nicholas. Originally from England, he owned the Hvmboldt Copper Mine in Hvmbolt, Arizona during the time he discovered Springfield MO. The mansion is considered a World’s Fair Home because it was finished the year St. Louis hosted the World’s Fair. Current owners, Rick and Robin Gilmore acquired the home in 2007 after waiting for the property to become available for quite some time. White Corinthian columns welcome guests to this colonial style home which has 12 rooms, each with pocket doors to seclude the heat in the winter. Rather than modernizing the home, the Gilmores wanted to restore it to its original grandeur. As the mansion itself has a rich history, so do the wonderful furnishings and décor. Most of the Gilmore’s unique pieces came from auctions, flea markets or antique stores. It takes Robin a full month to decorate for the holidays. She uses many one-of-a-kind ornaments and vintage pieces which belonged to her mother or were acquired over the years. The couple operates Ms. Gilmore’s Carriage House, a wedding and events venue, located near the mansion on this hidden property in West Springfield.

The prairie-style home of Greg and Tori Kubik is located in the Misty River gated community overlooking the James River. Designed by architect, Brian Kubik and built by Rick Ramsey, the home was honored as a 2012 Home of the Year by 417 Magazine. Also referred to as mission-style, the home’s exterior was constructed with native stone from St. Louis. The Kubiks envisioned their home’s design elements with Graham, Gwen and Cora (their three children) top of mind. The 6,000-square foot interior has an open floor plan, hand-scraped floors, clean lines and many unique characteristics. The kitchen features CaesarStone countertops, a barrel ceiling and a complete-radius window. There are two covered outdoor porches, one with a fireplace, outdoor kitchen, flat screen for entertaining and a relaxing setting to watch their children play. An infinity pool, secret bookcase door, home theatre and bar are just a few of the wonderful features you don’t want to miss! (Photo by Steve Pearcy)

The magnificent home of Kathy Pozniak was built in 2011 by Sam Clifton of Millstone Custom Homes. This soft contemporary home features dark walnut floors and cabinetry, stainless steel railings and a vast collection of art pieces from faraway places like Austria, Thailand, Mexico and India. Kathy’s desire to comfortably accommodate her visiting children, grandchildren and many out-of-town guests inspired her to include three additional master suites, an elevator and a second laundry room on the upper level. In addition to her incredible kitchen, a ‘pantry kitchen’ provides a secondary preparation area for use while entertaining. Her in-home theater, complete with a stage for her grandchildren’s performances, includes a large projector screen and recliners for movie nights. The lower level is also home to an exercise room, storage and a play area for her grandchildren. This level opens up to her beautiful back property that includes a pool, cabana with an outdoor kitchen, and an expansive view.

Springfield’s first Ronald McDonald House has provided a “home away from home” for over 8,700 families of seriously ill and injured children during the last 26 years. The holiday décor is a group effort from some of the finest decorators in Springfield, as well as the talented Ronald McDonald House volunteers and staff. The common areas and 3 of the 14 bedrooms within the House are available for touring. (Photo by Gayle Babcock, Architectural Imageworks)

Completed in 2014, this 10,000-square-foot modern Tuscan home built by Bryon Weber originated with a floor plan similar to a home on Lake Travis in Austin, TX. This amazing home features an expansive great room which opens up to an extensive outdoor living space. A two-stage air pocket program maintains the home’s indoor temperature even when the accordion doors remain open. The outdoor area features a pool, hot tub, 65” Sunbrite outdoor TV, waterfalls and fire pots. The home is controlled by an Apple Savant automation system, which allows the owners to easily manage the lighting, climate, audio, home theatre and other systems. Custom furniture and accessories, as well as one-of-a-kind pieces from Italy support the home’s Tuscan theme. Artwork by Peter Lik, a fine art photographer from Australia and Vladimir Kush, a Russion painter and sculptor add beautiful touches. The lower level features a Cabo-themed guest room inspired by the couple’s love for the Mexico destination. You’ll find a home theatre, wine cellar and game room in the entertainment area. Don’t miss the owners’ unique guitar collection, each signed by an Rock n Roll Hall of Fame entertainer!
