SETON HILL HEAD COACH: After a successful tenure in NCAA Division III, Isaac Collins has posted a 2-13 overall record in two years as head coach with the Griffins. He earned his first victory at Seton Hill in the last game of the 2013 regular season, snapping the program’s 23-game losing streak. Collins previously served three years as head coach at Widener, leading the program to an 11-1 overall record in 2012 with two wins in the NCAA Playoffs.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS: Seton Hill returns 14 starters from a team that finished with a 1-10 record last year while making its debut in the PSAC. On offense, the Griffins rank among the top half of the PSAC in passing offense (259.5 yards/game) and total offense (436.8 yards/game). Redshirt senior quarterback Drew Jackson, who missed all of last season, has registered a pair of 300-yard games this year and accounted for seven of his eight passing touchdowns in those two games. Junior transfer wide receiver F.J. Williams leads the team with 15 receptions and posted a 100-yard receiving game last week. Fellow junior transfer Brandon Stout has rushed for a team-high 240 yards while ranking second on the team with 13 receptions. Defensively, Seton Hill ranks in the bottom three of the 16-team PSAC in scoring defense (44.8 points/game), total defense (537.0 yards/game), rushing defense (211.8 yards/game) and passing defense (325.3 yards/game). Redshirt sophomore defensive back Josh Falatovich leads the team with 31 tackles (19 solo) and has made a pair of interceptions and fumble recoveries after missing most of 2013 due to injury. Senior linebacker Tyler Zimmer, the program’s lone All-PSAC selection last season, has posted 29 stops (11 solo) after leading the team in tackles the last two years. On special teams, the Griffins have attempted only one field goal in four games and are averaging just 31.6 yards per punt. Freshman Malik Scott posted a 51-yard punt return for a touchdown in the win over Lock Haven and also boasts a 72-yard kickoff return this season.

THIS TIME IT COUNTS: With the PSAC adopting a new rule this season, all 16 league teams have already played two games (Week 2, Week 3) that are reflected in the league standings. Previously, only games against divisional opponents counted in the PSAC standings.

PRESEASON PREDICTIONS: The Vulcans were picked to finish second in the preseason PSAC West poll after receiving three first-place votes. Cal U had earned at least a share of the top spot in the preseason divisional poll every year from 2005-12. Seton Hill was picked to finish eighth in the PSAC West after winning just one game last season.

UNDER CONTROL: Junior quarterback James Harris has passed for a pair of touchdowns in all four games this season and ranks second in the league with a 163.0 passing efficiency. Over the last 10 quarters, he has passed for almost 900 yards and completed 66.7 percent of his attempts. Harris also ranks third in the PSAC this year with 1,231 passing yards, which nearly equals his total from last season, and a 64.0 completion percentage (80-for-125).

BEHIND THE LINE: Cal U totaled seven sacks in last week’s victory over Edinboro and forced the Fighting Scots to negative-12 rushing yards on 24 attempts. Nine different players for the Vulcans recorded at least 0.5 TFL and four players tallied at least 1.0 sack. The seven sacks marked the most in game for the Vulcans since they registered eight sacks against Lock Haven on Oct. 2, 2010. Cal U also last forced an opponent to negative rushing yards in 2010 when Edinboro tallied minus-four rushing yards on 21 carries.

LEGWORK: Senior Cody Nuzzo leads all kickers in the PSAC and ranks sixth among kickers in the country with 40 points this season. After making a pair of field goals last week, he is tied for fourth among active kickers in NCAA Division II with 36 career field goals. Nuzzo has already broken the all-time school records for field-goals made and field-goals attempted this year, while also setting the single-game school record for field goals and made the longest field goal in school history.

SACK MAN: In last week’s win over Edinboro, sophomore defensive lineman Jawan Turner recorded 4.0 TFL and 3.5 sacks while making his fourth career start. He also finished with five tackles (three solo) and two pass break-ups and was tabbed the PSAC West Athlete of Week. Turner became the first player with 3.5 sacks in a game since B.J. Stevens accomplished the feat against Kutztown last year and is also the second player this season to tally 4.0 TFL in a game (Branko Busick, Bloomsburg).

FINDING THE END ZONE: Senior running back Terrell Roberson enters the weekend tied for fifth in the league with five rushing touchdowns with all five coming in the last two weeks. A former defensive back, he leads the team and sits eighth in the PSAC with 289 rushing yards in his first year playing on offense. Roberson, who was an All-PSAC West selection as a return specialist in 2013, scored three times at Shippensburg (2, 1, 5) before posting a pair of touchdowns last week versus Edinboro (2, 2).

RARE CHANGE: For only the third time in the last 15 games, the Vulcans featured a change along the offensive line last week against Edinboro. Redshirt freshman Taylor Nikithser made his first career start at right guard last week, snapping a streak of 14-straight starts by junior Jeremy Seaman. The trio of senior center Jack Abercrombie, sophomore right tackle Tyler Peerson and Seaman have combined to start 34 games over the last two years. Abercrombie is the team’s active career leader with 28 starts, including 26 consecutive.

TROUBLING FLAGS: The Vulcans committed eight penalties for 90 yards against Edinboro last week while another two penalties were off-setting. Cal U has been penalized 38 times for a staggering 373 yards this season (93.3 penalty yards/game), which is the second-highest total in the PSAC. Cheyney has been flagged the most times this season, totaling 48 penalties and 378 penalties yards.

BREAKING OUT: After totaling just five catches last year, sophomore Garry Brown has emerged as one of the top wide receivers in the PSAC this season. He ranks second in the league with 432 receiving yards and sits seventh with 23 receptions, averaging 18.8 yards per catch. Brown has totaled at least 75 receiving yards every game this year and has made seven receptions of at least 20 yards. The 6-foot-1 sophomore has totaled a combined 14 catches over the last two weeks and also posted a 24-yard run against Edinboro.

NICKEL ADDS UP: Junior Chaz Veal has started each of the last two weeks, as the Vulcans have opened the game with five defensive backs. Last week, he tied his career high of seven tackles (six solo), which he set the previous week at Shippensburg. Veal leads the secondary and ranks third on the team with a career-high 24 stops (14 solo) after playing primarily on special teams the last two seasons.
