EU Energy /Climate Package

• European Council agreed on a new energy and climate package for 2030. The main commitments are to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40%, and increase energy efficiency and renewable energy by at least 27%, compared to 1990 levels.

• Circular Economy – waste related, food, water etc.

• September: Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between the EU and Canada (CETA)

• October: The EU concluded talks on a trade agreement with Singapore with similar investor protection clauses.

• Today & TTIP: Karel de Gucht, Trade Commissioner: 24 of 28 member states believe ISDS should be part of investment agreements, incl with the US

TTIP: not so easy...........
