Dear Friends of Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County,
It is my honor to be a part of Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County and to serve as the Board Chair for 2015.
In 2014, we celebrated our 30th anniversary and now we are looking forward to the next 30 years! Andrea Milton came on board as our Development Coordinator and Hilda Hinchliffe, who is a graduate of our program, came on board as our Administrative Assistant in 2014. Our staff, Jack, Sally, Kim, Fran, Hilda, and Andrea, will be instrumental in keeping our program moving forward for the next 30 years.
We are here because of our students. Here are a few comments that I would like to share with you about how the program impacted some of our recipients:
“Oh, wow! Resume help. Mindset that education is important and to continue in school. Allowed me to focus more on school, worry less about bills, less stress at home, more time with son. School supplies. Household goods. Social activities. Counseling.”
“How have you not helped me? Emotional supportive through counseling and words of advice. Tangible support: products, gas cards, Giving Tree. Educational support on how school works, FAFSA, loans, Dave Ramsey, workshops. Family: support and encouragement, I know I am not alone; being allowed to give back to the program has helped me.”
“Oh! Wouldn’t have been possible without SPSF/BC. Financially and emotionally, you are part of my family. The help you’ve given me makes me want to help the next group coming in.”
“Tremendously! Bills, bills. Guidance for next step of education – no one in my family could help, but I was sent to the right person with questions & information to gather. Nancy was great.”
This is an exciting time for SPSF/BC. We have a new website that is more user-friendly and has resources for students and donors alike. We are using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay in touch with our donors, supporters and students and to reach out to future donors, supporters and students.
In closing, I want to thank the Board of Directors, the Advisory Council, the Corporate Council, the Alumni Council and all of the individuals, businesses, churches and organizations that make SPSF/BC so great!
Judy Hammond, Ed.D2015 Board Chair

“I would like to thank you for the gas card that I was provided with, it has helped out more than you could imagine. You have taken away the worry of trying to come up with extra money to be able to take a test at my school...It is a huge help knowing that going to my campus to take a mandatory test is not going to be a stressful event...” - Elizabeth, Scholarship Recipient
