The Association of Jewish Camp Operators (AJCO), a division of Agudath Israel of America, was established over 25 years ago to represent and act as liaison between the Jewish camping industry and Federal, State and local governmental agencies, as well as to further the cause of Jewish camping.
Our major interaction to date has been between the camps and the United States Department of Agriculture, the New York State Department of Education, the New York State Department of Health, as well as many local town governments and associations.
Our mission is to project a unified approach to these governmental agencies expressing the unique needs and concerns of the Jewish Camping Industry.
In addition to this representation, AJCO produces periodic newsletters of interest to our camp directors and owners, advances safety issues by developing guidelines on safe driving during the summer months, advises parents and staff on issues of abuse, and conducts seminars on timely issues of concern to the camping community and the community at large.
A major AJCO event is the Jewish Camp Expo now in its 8th Year, bringing together all types of Jewish Camps and providing them with abundance of information and services crucial to every Jewish camp’s needs and upkeep and every organization’s exponential growth and existence. Camp Representative will explore and review a variety of sources for their camps summer daily function; investigate and negotiate effective and find innovative ways to yield the highest rates of success for their upcoming summer season.
