DEAR ST. THOMAS SCHOOL

Families, Friends and Colleagues,After a decade as the Head of St. Thomas School, I continue to be amazed by the generosity and dedication of our community. From a financial standpoint we are thriving, and our faculty and staff continue to be committed to an outstanding educational experience for each student.

Thank you to our hundreds of parent volunteers who served on dozens of committees, dedicating countless hours to ensure STS remains a vibrant, engaged community. Truly, STS would not be the same without the parent involvement and leadership that permeates daily school life.

Among the highlights of the 2014-2015 school year were the Spring Soiree Auction and Annual Fundfirst. Our Annual Fundfirst co-chairs, Cathi & Jeff Haight, led with passion and determination, ensuring the current educational program was fully funded. Annual Fund contributions go directly to the operating budget, supporting many areas including teacher salaries, financial aid, and faculty professional development. The Auction, co-chaired by Amy Lorimer, Katie Miller and Nicolette Sharp, helped connect our community in wonderful ways, through a record-breaking online Auction, and an extraordinary live Auction. Funds raised from this year’s Raise the Paddle supported technology tools for our personalized learning program, including the Interactive LED panels for our 2-Day Preschool through 2nd Grade classrooms, and zSpace 3D virtual reality desktops for 3rd through 8th Graders. Our teachers (below) received training this summer on these exciting additions to our technology toolkit and are eager to share them with our students. Thank you to all parents serving in fundraising capacities, and in “friend-raising” activities as well!

Our St. Thomas School hallmark events, including the Holiday and Spring Arts programs, were wonderful opportunities to showcase our talented students. And we always enjoy treating our Moms, Dads, Grandparents, and Special Friends on their special days throughout the year. Graduation at STS is a rare opportunity to take the time to reflect on each graduate’s educational journey and honor the gifts each has shared with our community. This June, we graduated our second 8th Grade class, and our first “Lifer” who attended STS from 2-Day Preschool through 8th Grade.
