A test of a B-School is when its students go out and make a

alma mater into focus. The task of a recruiter becomes

extremely difficult when despite more than 4000 B Schools

and their students being available for placements; most of

The personality enrichment program is an initiative taken up by the students for the students. This program aims to go

beyond academics and the stuff you learn from books. There are a myriad of activities covered which include group

discussions and debates, movie and book review sessions, documentary viewing, impromptu speeches, etc. These

programs aim to bring out the creative and intellectual side of students and add new dimensions to their personality.

Vyuha (Case Study Competition)

Vyuha, Vanguard’s annual case study competition saw great participation from the student community. Real world

problems faced by corporates were shared with us. This event was judged by industry experts from various domains like

HR, Branding, Finance and Strategy. While the HR event was judged by Gnanesh from Sales force and Annapurna from

Essilor. Mr. Pulak Mishra from Strategy division of Wipro shared valuable insights with us. Branding guru Manosh

Sengupta took us through the nuances of brand marketing. The event concluded with Ms Seema from PNB distributing

certificates to those who were able to crack the finance case successfully.

At the end of Internship period, feedback from each company is taken on the student’s performance

This feedback will help us guide our students in an enhanced manner so that we can work on the

strengths and weaknesses of each student and prepare them better for the future

Discussion regarding PPO and PPI will be made after feedback

Final Placement Cycle

Our third batch of 60 students will be graduating in March 2015.

All the students will be available for Final Placement process from October 2014 onwards.

Vanguard encourages companies to come on campus and engage in pre-placement talks through

presentations about the opportunities available.

Students express their interest based on specialization, job prospect and location.

The selection process is then conducted which includes various rounds such as aptitude test,

group discussion, personal interview.

Companies then make offer to the selected students.

As there are parallel selection processes which take place, most companies make an offer at the end of the

selection process on the same day.

However if the company is unable to make the offer on the same day, it is expected to make the offer

within 3 days from the day of selection process.

Students selected through the placement process can join any day after their graduation.

2-Day Internship Program

While most MBA schools in the country have just the summer internship to offer to their students, Vanguard has

incorporated an innovative 2-Day Internship in its curriculum. The 2-Day Internship Program allows students to gain

corporate experience after the Summer Internship. This is intended for students in the second year of its PGPM

program. The program envisages two full days in the week being reserved for a longer term part time internship

engagement with companies.

Internship details:

Duration - August 19th to December 17th (4 months)

Days in the week - 2 days, Tuesdays and Wednesdays

The main objective of this program is to provide students additional corporate interaction on an on-going basis

in the second year after the summer internship. Each student will on the whole have close to 6 months of

corporate experience before final placements.

Companies looking for longer Summer Internship, can have students continue in the same organization for

2-day internship even after the summer internship stint is completed.

This is beneficial for the company as well as it gives them a longer time span to observe how Vanguard

students function in a professional environment. Many companies have made final placement offers in the

past based on the performance of student during the 2-day internship.

Why 2-day Internship?


Summer Internship Program

As a part of curriculum each student in Vanguard has to do their summer internship for a tenure of 3 months. MBA

being a professional degree classroom learning by itself does not give the holistic picture of the business environment.

Therefore it is very necessary to have hands on experience in the corporate world while pursuing their PGPM. The

summer internship program forms an integral part of PGPM course. It is mandatory for every student to engage in the

internship process.

The summer internship process which happens in parallel with our final placements has turned out to be a grand

success. We managed to achieve 100% Placements in a process that lasted for a period of 3 months.

The summer placements witnessed participation from 20 companies and have made 102 offers for the batch of 60

students. The roles were offered in diverse sectors such as private equity, telecom, NBFC, advertising & media, data

analytics, retail, social media, market research, manufacturing, consulting, finance and IT/ITES. We were successful in

receiving PPO and PPI from companies like Airtel, CRISIL, ITC, Castling Consulting etc

Credit analyst profiles were offered on campus this year by HSBC and CRISIL.

Consulting profiles also made a debut with the Associate Consultant profile being offered by Feedback

Consulting.

Other prominent roles on offer this year include Risk Management by Dun & Bradstreet as well as product

manager profile offered by Reliance Jio

We also managed to bag offers from marquee advertising firms Ogilvy and Mather and Lowe Lintas.

FMCG Major Colgate-Palmolive was a key addition to our list of elite recruiters.

Telecom Major Airtel also made its debut as a recruiter at VBS and was in fact also the highest recruiter on

campus this year offering as many as 11 offers spanning 4 diverse profiles to VBS students.

Analytics major Mu-Sigma was also amongst our first recruiters. Banking & finance majors ICICI Direct,

Cholamandalam, HLF and Magma Fin Corp offered business development profiles.
