Mackenzie Kenney Janelle Strampe
1. I choose SDSMT because it gave me the opportunity to study engineering while playing collegiate basketball. 2. My favorite memory was when Coach, at half time of a game, compared Jordan's layup to a sloth. And the joke will never die! -or- My favorite memory is anytime the team performs something perfectly and Coach fake faints. 3. My favorite activity outside of basketball is hiking and exploring the Black Hills. 4. After graduation I plan to go to Graduate school at Colorado State University, then get a sweet job.
Jordan Needens 1. SDSM&T is the best engineering college around with an amazing reputation in the local community, but also with companies from all over the United States and world. Additionally, my grandpa attended Mines, so I am a little biased. 2. The Black Hills State game where we played at the ice arena/civic center. It was an amazing game and of course we came out with the win!! 3. Studying, my books are my best friends....Slightly kidding, of course. Born and raised in Wyoming, I enjoy anything and everything outdoors! 4. I am currently working on my M.S. in Biomedical Engineering and exploring opportunities within various M.D. or Ph.D. programs. Maybe one day I will be working in sports medicine as an orthopedic surgeon, or continuing my research with DNA mutagenesis finding a cure for cancer.
1. I chose to come to SDSM&T because it was a school that would allow me to continue my basketball career while still attending a prestigious academic school. It has proven to be a great decision and amazing school! 2. My favorite memory from the 2013-14 season was beating Black Hills at the Civic Center. It was so exciting to be playing in the Civic Center, and even better to beat our rival with an amazing comeback. 3. My favorite activity outside of basketball is reading, and I have loved the adventures some great books have taken me on. 4. My plans after graduation are to attend medical school (not sure where yet), and right now I have a strong interest in pediatrics and neonatology.
Alexis Long Devyn Asche
What did you do this past summer? 1. This past summer I was able to go back to my hometown of Glendive, Montana and work as an intern in the field of environmental engineering for an oil and gas company called Continental Resources. This was my second summer interning for the company, and I gained a tremendous amount of valuable knowledge and experience. What are you most excited about for this coming season? 2. For this upcoming season, I would have to say that I am most excited to see what unforgettable memories and achievements we, as a team, have ahead of us. What makes attending SDSM&T special? 3. South Dakota School of Mines & Technology is special in so many ways. Not only are students provided a top-notch education, but the unique atmosphere that is experienced along the way holds all students and faculty to a standard. What is something you have to do on game day? 4. On game day, something that I always have to do is make my last shot during warm-ups. Before I can leave the basket and be ready to start the game, I need to make my last shot or else I think it is bad luck.
r
Megan Rohrer
What is your favorite memory from last season?
1. My best memory from the 2013-14 season was playing
sand volleyball in Florida and California. Playing with the
coaches made it a really cool team bonding activity.
What are you excited about this upcoming season?
2. This upcoming season, I am most excited about playing
with all of my new teammates and seeing how good we
can get before playing in the RMAC these upcoming
years.
What are you most proud of about being at SDSM&T?
3. I am always proud to tell people back home where I go
to school. Although it is very academically challenging,
SDSM&T is small enough for me to get to know my
professors and fellow classmates and that has made
college a truly special experience that not a lot of other
kids at different colleges get.
What is something people don’t know about you?
4. On top of having the same warm-up routine on game
days, I always eat four Sour Patch Kids before the start of
the game. They are my favorite candy and it gives me a
little sugar rush and energy boost before the game!
Devyn Asche
What is your favorite memory from last season?
1. My best memory from the 2013-14 season is beating Black
Hills State at the civic center. We came from behind and were
able to get a really good and satisfying win as a team.
What are you excited about this upcoming season?
2. For this upcoming season I am most excited about building
on last year. I think we have a chance to be very successful
this year and I can't wait to get on the court and show our
fans how much work we have put in so far this year.
What are you most proud of about being at SDSM&T?
3. The special thing about attending SDSM&T is the
community involvement. Because we are a smaller school, we
are able to have a lot of interaction with the community.
Whether that means volunteering at elementary schools,
being a part of a parade downtown, or seeing a lot of
community members at our games, it is clear that we have
something special going on here.
What is something people don’t know about you?
4. On game day I have to listen to music in the locker room
before we warm up. I also have to put my ankle brace and
shoe on my left foot first before I can put my ankle brace and
shoe on my right foot.

1. Why did you choose to attend
SDSM&T? I chose to attend
SDSM&T because of the education.
I knew coming here would secure
my future and help me lay a solid
educational foundation providing me
confidence to continue on in my
professional career.
2. What's your favorite thing about
being a college basketball player?
My favorite thing about being a
college player is the motivation of it
all. In my short time as a college
basketball player I’ve learned how to
motivate myself, and push through
daily struggles. I also love my team,
we have all become very close and
it's great knowing I have all these
girls to depend on.
3. What's one thing you have to
do before a game? I have a specific
stretching routine before every game
and practice that I have to do!
4. What makes SDSM&T so
special? Something that makes
SDSM&T special is how everyone is
so willing to help one another. It's
just a great atmosphere to enter,
there are so many people that are
willing to help you with a problem,
give advice, and be there if you need
to talk, I love it!
Stacy Hull
1. Why did you choose to attend
SDSM&T? I chose to attend SDSM&T
because of the community of the team
and the program that our coaches are
working to build. I also chose this school
because of the great academic
challenge, as well as the support that
we as students get from our peers.
2. What's your favorite thing about
being a college basketball player? My
favorite thing about being a college
basketball player is the fast-paced game
and the competitive mindset. I
appreciate being coached by three
knowledgeable coaches each and every
day who push me to get better. It's so
rewarding to be playing basketball with
a team that I love.
3. What's one thing you have to do
before a game? Something I have to do
before every game is say the "athlete’s
prayer" in the locker room before I head
out onto the court.
4. What makes SDSM&T so special?
Something that makes SDSM&T so
special is that we are more than just a
school we are a community. I know that
I will always have the support and help
from everyone, including the staff,
faculty, coaches, teammates and
alumni!
1. Why did you choose to attend
SDSM&T? I chose SDSM&T for the
great education. I feel fortunate to have
such an amazing educational
opportunity to graduate with an
outstanding degree.
2. What is your favorite thing about
being a college basketball player? My
favorite thing about being a college
basketball player is the number of
relationships made along the way. This
team is really close and it's fun not to
only have these ladies as teammates but
as friends.
3. What is one thing you have to do
before a game? One thing I have to
do before a game is eat of course!
4. What makes SDSM&T so special?
The people here at SDSM&T are what
make it so special. You find people that
will go the extra mile to help you
succeed. They're all willing to help you
when you need it.
