HEAD COACH MARK MATLAK

A Message from Coach Matlak It is our desire to see each young man we coach receive the same rewards as previous Allegheny players, beginning with a quality education. Allegheny is one of the oldest and most respected liberal arts colleges in the country.

Along with its highly regarded academic reputation, the College’s greatest strength is its people, especially its diverse student body. At Allegheny, we believe the football field is merely an extension of the classroom, and we are committed to running a quality Division III football program. We have first-class coaching and support staffs, first-rate facilities, and top-rated competition in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

If challenges in the classroom and on the field excite you, then Allegheny is the place for you. Experience the Commitment, Tradition, and Excellence our program has to offer.

TEAM FACILITIESFrank B. Fuhrer Field is the home of Allegheny Gator football. The stadium is named in honor of Frank B. Fuhrer ‘48, a long-time college supporter and member of Allegheny’s inaugural Hall of Fame class. Renovated in 2006, the facility includes a Field Turf playing surface, a FairPlay scoreboard that utilizes the latest in LED lamp technology, stadium lighting, and an eight-land, 400-meter double-bend Olympic track with an award-winning surface. Attached to the stadium is a spacious, state-of-the-art sports medicine facility, as well as a number of locker rooms utilized by both the Gators and visiting squads.

Located two blocks from campus, Frank B. Fuhrer Field is the hub of the Robertson Athletic Complex, which covers 200 picturesque acres. In addition to the stadium, the complex also is home to the Gator women’s soccer field, softball complex, baseball field, and 12 lighted tennis courts, as well as one of the most highly-regarded cross country courses in the region.

The Gator football team also has year-round access to the David V. Wise Center, the on-campus home of Allegheny athletics. The building, completed in 1996, serves all needs of Gator student-athletes. The main part of the facility is the sports forum located on the main floor, 27,000 feet of open floor space that is used by the football team and other intercollegiate programs for year-round training. Suspended above the sport forum is a three-lane, 200-yard indoor track that allows full cardio training all year.

Located just off the main floor of the sports forum is the Allegheny Fitness Center, which underwent a major facelift in 2014. A main piece of the fitness center is the brand new weight room, which received over a dozen new pieces of equipment over the summer of 2014, including benches, weight racks, and free weights, all customized for Gator athletics.

The fitness center also houses dozens of brand new pieces of cardio equipment, which were put into use in the spring of 2014. The treadmills, stationary bikes, and ellipticals all have fully digital and customizable user displays. Opened in the fall of 2014, the functional training room in the fitness center boasts all of the necessities for cross fit and other similar workouts, including pull up bars, kettlebells, machine balls, and much more.

In addition, the Wise Center natatorium is located on the same level as the fitness center to support additional training and rehab opportunities, while the volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball teams compete in the performance arena located on the ground floor.
