6. Chairman’s report (Sian Boffey):

Year End Accounts Report attached and dated 31st October 2014.

8. Election of Officers and Committee Members

OO Society donated £2,000 to the school for a cricket cover and £600 for a bowling machine.

Liz was awaiting news on OO society join ups. Bruce Morgan queried that OO society could make more money if London dinner did not

have a speaker where their tickets and expenses were paid. Sian Boffey said the London dinner needs to be run by local London people and up to them whether they have a speaker or not. Sian Boffey suggested it might be a good idea that a London dinner does not take place every year. Bruce Morgan and Alasdair Wilson said they were afraid if the dinner stopped it might not happen again. The Society is looking for future volunteers to organise the dinner. Alasdair Wilson is happy to organise the 2015 dinner.

Withdrawals

Hilary James opted to step down. Sian Boffey thanked Hilary for her long service on the committee.

Re-elections:

OO policy states that committee members must be re-elected every 3 years if they do not hold an Officer’s post. Andrew Leggat said he would like to be elected again. Alasdair Wilson proposed this and Rachel Bowd seconded.

New elections:

John Croft (Former School Geography Teacher). Bruce Morgan proposed this and Hugh Pritchard seconded.

Milly Evans (School Leaver 2008). Rachel Bowd proposed this and Joy Griffiths seconded.

Election to secretary of existing committee member Sarah Marshall. Alasdair Wilson proposed this and Hugh Pritchard seconded

Joy Griffiths was happy to run for a second year as President as it was felt the President can get more involved and drive vision forward. Rachel Bowd proposed this and Bruce Morgan seconded.

9. Old Oswestrian Feedback to Potential Logo Change and Vote:

Sian Boffey summarised that we are voting on whether the OO society logo remains or whether we opt for the school shield logo.

Sarah Marshall and Sian Boffey read out the feedback OOs has wished to be shared at the AGM and proxy vote confirmations as recorded by Sarah Marshall and attached.

Roger Morgan said there is no reason why the Society should follow the School. When the School modernises its logo and there is no reason why the Society should. He felt it would be confusing and less iconic.

Alasdair Wilson proposed moving to the School shield logo to keep School single brand consistency and ensure both the School and the Society has a strong identity.

The logo was voted upon by those present and by proxy voters who had to advise the Secretary in advance of who would vote on their behalf and 33 OOs voted for retaining the logo and 17 people against. The vote for retaining the existing logo was passed.

10. Any Other Business:

Bruce Morgan informed the Society that there will be a the 50 Year Anniversary reunion for his peers in September 2015.

It was suggested future AGMs be held in the School Library to help the acoustics of the meeting.

Chris Wylie reminded people they could re-order OO blazers and that Bruce Morgan has attracted female attention when wearing his blazer recently!

Committee meeting came to a close at 6.45pm.
