    Short description of activity:

    The AGRILIFE unit (Agriculture and Life Sciences in the Economy) hasa vacancy for a post-doctoral researcher to work on Modelling CAP andother policies effects on the Farming Sector and Rural Development in theSUSTAG Action. This action is currently carrying out research onquantitative assessment of policy impact on rural areas.

    The successful candidate will participate in: conceptual/empirical work and analyses of effects of agriculture-rural

    policies (ex-ante and ex-post) on farming sustainability and on ruraleconomies. Specifically, the candidate will take part in ongoing activitiesin farm-household modelling development at the EU and extra-EUlevel: i) Carrying out socio-economic analysis on agriculture, ii)conducting analyses in the framework of FP7 projects, and iii) supportingthe development of the quantitative tools for the impact assessment ofCAP/other policies;

    initiation, management and monitoring of related research projects (i.e.preparing technical specifications, evaluating results, drafting policyreports);

    organisation of scientific events (workshops, etc.); publishing scientificarticles and technical reports, and participate in scientific conferences.

    She/he should have experience and a track record of research in more ofthe following areas: impacts of agricultural/rural policy on farming and onrural economies, quantitative analysis or regional economics. The candidateshould possess strong analytical skills, including case study approach, andadvanced knowledge of statistics, quantitative methods/economic-modellingapproaches (e.g. mathematical programming, econometrics, partial andgeneral equilibrium modelling) and software (particularly GAMS). The abilityto work in a multi-cultural and interdisciplinary environment is necessary.

    A very good level of written and spoken English is essential and knowledgeof at least one other EU language is compulsory.

    Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph.D. or a minimum of 5 years ofresearch experience after the first degree giving access to doctoral studies.
