As the story goes, in 1932, Sherman Kelly, the founder of The Zeroll Co., was struck by inspiration while on vacation in West Palm Beach, Florida. He walked into an ice cream shop and observed a young woman dipping ice cream and noticed the blisters on her hand from the constant use of the disher in the hard ice cream.

In 1933, Sherman Kelly developed the design for the Zeroll® Ice Cream Dipper and received a patent in 1935. The dipper was a non-mechanical ice cream scoop, made of cast aluminum, with f luid inside the handle. Its unique design transferred heat from the user’s hand, warming the f luid, which in turn defrosted the ice cream dipper. Kel ly had created the world’s f irst modern ice cream scoop.

The 1980’s marked a period of product innovation and diversity. The Zeroll Co. developed the Zerolon® l ine of scoops and spades. Zerolon is hardcoat anodized and sealed with Teflon® to protect against hard or over-chlorinated water. In 1989, The Zeroll Co. introduced yet another unique product to the Food service Industry and the Retail Market, the Universal EZ Disher, a one-piece, ergonomically designed, spring-less food portioner available in thirteen sizes. The Universal EZ Disher quickly became the disher of choice for restaurants, hotels and cafeterias al l over the world.

In recent years, a new era in product development began. The Universal EZ Disher was re-introduced with a solid stainless steel gear and shaft. The Original TubMate® Spade was re-designed with a longer handle and thicker blade. The Zelato ® Spade, a brand new product designed as a portioner for gelato, joined the Zeroll product l ine to rave reviews. A new l ine of small-ware products was also launched called USSENTIALS.

From humble beginnings in a garage, The Zeroll Co. is proud of its heritage and will continue to be a pioneer in the world of small wares for years to come.
