From the Principal’s esk November has arrived and with it colder weather with the promise of more to come. Here at R-O, K-6 teachers have been involved in completing Elementary Progress Reports which will be sent home on We dnesday, November 6th. Reporting practices in Ontario – for both elementary and secondary students - favour on-going communication betw een school a nd home. Parents should have already received a communication this fall from their child’s teacher in the manner that best suits the needs of the child (email, telephone call, conference ). Parents shoul d always feel f ree to contact the classroom or subject teacher at any time they wish to discuss the progress and well- being of their child. This reciprocal form of communication allows for timely and meaningful support of individual student learning. Secondary mid-term report cards will be sent home on Friday, November 22nd and parent/teache r/student conferences will take place on Tuesday, November 26th, 6:00 – 8:00 PM in Osnabruck Hall. We hope to see you then but encourage you to touch base with your child’s teacher at any time you have questions or concerns. On Monday, November 11th at 10:30 AM we will be holding our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony, K- 12, in Osnabruck Hall. Parents and community members are welcome to attend. Following this assembly, our Grade 7 and 8 students will be travelling to the re-enactment of the Battle o f Crysler’s Farm as part of their Remembrance Day activities. We are pleased that they have bee n given this opportunity to learn about our local history in such an authentic way. We are pleased to be hosting EOSSA Senior Girls’ “A” Basketball on Thursday, November 14th and Friday, November 15th. Our girls and coach Stephane St. Denis have been working hard with great results throughout the fa ll. Thanks to Mr. Bob Thompson and several other R-O staff for their support. In addition to hos ting EO SSA this year, we have b een approved t o host OFSSA Sen ior Girls’ “A” Basketball in November of 2014. This is a great opportunity for this community to see high quality basketball competition right in our own backyard. We are looking for com munity volunteers who would like to be part of our local team planning this great even t. Please call the school or speak to Stephane St. Denis if you are able to help out! Please mark your calendars - Festival of the Arts, our annual Christmas concert, will be held on Wednesday, December 11th. Specific inf ormation about performance times and the format of this year’s event will be sent home later this month. I would like to encourage all parents and friends of R-O to attend the Christmas Craft Show being held here at R-O the evening of Friday, November 29th and all day Sa turday, N ovember 30th. This event is sponsored by R-O School Council and proceeds are used to support activities and purchases that enrich the lives of students at R-O. My understanding is that all tables have sold out so we can expect a terrif ic as sortment of vendors. We appreciate their work and your support. Have a great month!
