Birthright Taupo Inc . March Edition 2013
Supporting Single Parent Families
A Huge Hi to Members and Friends, Wow is it just me or does anyone else feel like the year is passing on fast forward! I can’t believe we are in March already! The nights and mornings have started to cool down helping us all sleep that bit better, yet reminding us Winter is just around the corner. Have you started to think about heating for winter? Did you know some Local Firewood companies will accept automatic payments for loads of Firewood? If you are on a limited budget this can be a struggle, but in the long run it’s worthwhile getting a head start on the Firewood costs! Have you thought about setting up an automatic payment to your child’s school? Many of our Birthright Members are already doing this and are finding it helps when school costs prop up – you already have a wee chunk of money sitting in a school account. With the costs involved with Christmas and the start of school, many families are still finding it financially challenging, especially as we start to think about winter. Taupo offers two fantastic Budgeting Services that can help you find a way through financial challenges – If this is you & you need help please ring them today: $ Family Financial Solutions Trust $ @ 0274 326 459 (texting welcome) $ Taupo Budget Advisory Service Inc. $ @ 07 377 1094 I would like to personally welcome all our new Birthright Members, we look forward to getting to know you and your children. Please note our Office hours and remember the jug is always on the boil, we have great coffee and welcome your visits!

‘Kiwi kid sponsorship’ ‘Kiwi kid sponsorship’ Together we can level the playing field and give all Kiwi kids a good start in
life. Create brighter futures today by sponsoring a disadvantaged child. Help Kiwi kids from your community by sponsoring a child through Variety. Your monthly donation will help to provide a disadvantaged New Zealand child with the basics that their family is unable to afford. Your sponsored child will receive essentials that they would otherwise go without, like home basics, school stationery, doctor’s visits, books, prescriptions and extra-curricular activities like school trips. How do you ensure the child is disadvantaged? We work with schools and social services agencies to receive referrals of children who are financially disadvantaged. The parents/caregivers are then required to complete an application and agree to Variety’s code of conduct. Variety’s Grant Committee then reviews the application to ensure the family meet stringent criteria including income levels. Why haven’t I heard of Variety's Kiwi Kid Sponsorship Programme before? It's new. During 2012 we undertook a research project involving our supporters, members of the public, schools, doctors, community organisations and various government ministries to identify issues facing today's Kiwi kids. Overwhelmingly we were told about the growing divide between the 'have' and the 'have nots' - Kiwi Kid Sponsorship is Variety's response to addressing this issue. Following a successful trial programme we are now officially launching Kiwi Kid Sponsorship.
Birthright Taupo Inc is now able to apply to the ‘Kiwikid Sponsorship Fund’ on
your behalf. To find out if you are eligible and meet the criteria please contact
