His parents and grandparents also grew up in Calbayog City. At school, Art usually eats rice and hotdogs. When he gets home from school, he plays and studies. His favorite school yard activity is hide-and-seek, and summer is his favorite season. If someone came to visit Art who had never been to the Philippines, he would serve them Paksiw, which is salty fish. He would also tell them to visit the church, park, and beach near his town, which he finds to be beautiful!

The weather is cold in the winter, and the summer is very hot. Alina finds the steppe to be beautiful in the spring, when the earth is still saturated with moisture. The population of her village is less than two thousand people. At home, Alina speaks Russian, but she is also learning English in school. In her free time, she likes to draw, sing, and dance. Her favorite books are fairy tales and children’s encyclopedias. Alina finds it interesting that Russia is such a big country, with rich history and culture. Her favorite season is summer, when she can go for long bicycle rides, play with friends, and swim!

Name: Matilda Vargas Wunder Age: 7School: San Ignacio, La Paz, BoliviaMatilda lives in La Paz, in a house with a garden. She lives with her parents and two sisters. At home, they speak Spanish. Matilda finds La Paz to be a bit cloudy and cold at times. There are 33 students in Matilda’s class. She travels to school by gondola. For lunch, she usually eats soup, chicken, or spaghetti. If an exchange student came to visit Matilda in Bolivia, she would serve them Plato Paceno. It is a typical dish in La Paz made from fried cheese, potatoes, beans, and corn, with a spicy sauce of tomatoes and chilies. Matilda thinks that the most famous person from her country is the president, Evo Morales.

At home, Yifan mostly speaks Mandarin, and she is learning English, which she practices with her mother. She also likes to play hide-and-seek, read books, and draw. Yifan thinks the most beautiful place in her city is South Lake Park because it is full of flowers, and the building there is very beautiful.
