The 2013 Bond Advisory Committee reviewed the following:

 2010 Visioning Committee development of Findings and Directions that served as the blueprint for how Teaching & Learning will be supported in Seguin ISD

 2010-2011 Bond Advisory Committee recommendation for providing quality educational facilities utilizing the Findings and Directions

 2011 Career & Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Committee review of community workforce needs and academic/technical skills required to meet industry demands & recommended focus of academies to ensure college and career readiness (CCR)

 2011-2013 District review of components implemented from the visioning Findings and Directions

 Vision 2013 Action Planning Team reviewed and updated the Visioning document and developed action plans for implementation

Features of Proposed High School

 Creates learning environment to prepare students for college and career readiness

  Provides adequate space and equipment for 21st Century learning

  Aligns with the 2013 Review of the Visioning Findings & Directions and 2013 Action Plans approved by the Board of Trustees

  Allows for the upgrade of technology infrastructure and equipment to be integrated into high school classrooms

 Increases safety and security   With the exception of Goldie Harris Gym, facility all under one

roof

 Includes best practices for energy efficiency and conservation of resources

Over-65 Homestead

 A Homestead Exemption is a statutory amount that reduces the appraised value of homestead property

•  Regular Homestead Exemption $15,000

•  Over-65 Homestead Exemption $25,000

  School taxes are frozen as of the year Over-65 Exemption is granted

  New school bonds will not impact taxes on a homestead currently receiving an Over-65 Exemption

2013 Bond Committee Recommendation

The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees should place a single bond election on the November 5, 2013 ballot to:

 Renovate, improve and construct a high school facility on the current Seguin High School site $78.3 Million

 Fund technology enhancements at all elementary, middle school and other district facilities to enable 21st century learning environments $5 Million
