Save One Life encourages individuals andorganizations to focus their compassion andresources on improving the quality of life ofpeople with bleeding disorders and their familiesin developing countries. In the past 12 years SaveOne Life has assisted more than 1,300beneficiaries with the generous help of sponsorsin the US, Canada, England, Sweden, Italy,Switzerland, Qatar, the Philippines and Australia.
Save One Life collaborates with 40 programpartners in 12 countries: Belize, the DominicanRepublic, Ghana, Honduras, India, Kenya,Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines,Romania and Zimbabwe.
By the end of 2013Save One Life haddistributed more than$256,000 to 1,021beneficiaries and theirfamilies; awarded$18,500 to 40scholarship recipients infour countries;contributed $8,500 tothree hemophiliacamps and providedone capacity-building grant to the HemophiliaAssociation of Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines.

About Us
New Countries: Nigeria and GhanaSave One Life expanded its outreach to Africa by welcoming two new program partners: theHaemophilia Foundation of Nigeria (HFN), based in Kaduna and the Ghana HaemophiliaSociety (GHS), based in Accra.
HFN was founded in 2005 by Megan Adediron,mother of two boys with hemophilia. Nigeria isAfrica's most populous country, with an estimated14,400 people with hemophilia. GHS wasfounded in 2005 by Martin Boakye, father of aboy with hemophilia. An estimated 2,750 peoplewith hemophilia live in this country.
Executive Director Martha Hopewell traveled toNigeria and Ghana in February to orient boardmembers and volunteers, meet families, visitpediatric wards in regional hospitals and enrollnew beneficiaries.
Wheels for the WorldBarry Haarde made history in2012 as the first person withhemophilia to bike across theUSA. In 2013 Barry took on hissecond cross-country challenge: Wheels for theWorld 2013: FAST & FURIOUS! From southernCalifornia he rode 3,456 miles in just 33 days,averaging an astounding 120 miles a day, to endin Massachusetts. With support from BaxterInternational, Inc., The Alliance Pharmacy, theMatrix Health Group and many individualdonors, Barry raised $37,600 for Save One Life.
Spring CelebrationSave One Life held itsthird annual celebrationwith 105 guests at anelegant historic venue onBoston harbor in May.Neil Herson of ASDHealthcare and former Save One Life executivedirector Sudha Chandrasekharan receivedcertificates acknowledging five years ofbeneficiary sponsorship. Richard J. Gaton,President of BDI Pharma, accepted the 2013Sponsor of the Year award on behalf of hiscompany. Bombardier received our 2013 Inspiration Award for his Seven Summits Quest. His goal is to be the first person with hemophilia to climb the highest peak on each continent;he has summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Aconcagua in South America and Mt. Elbrus in Europe to date. CyclistBarry Haarde, who had just completed his cross-country tour only hours before the celebration, received acommemorative gift.
Smile on Summer CampaignSave One Life raised over $7,500 from Biogen IdecHemophilia's Big League Challenge, the Colburn-KeenanFoundation and 30 generous donors to send 75 children tocamp. Grants were made to Camp Ray of Hope in Romania,Camp “Yes I Can!” in the Dominican Republic and to theHaemophilia Foundation of Nigeria to organize the firsthemophilia camp ever in Nigeria: “Kids Kampout!” Sponsorship manager
Tricia Sico had her firstexperience outside theUnited States when shetraveled in July withfounder and presidentLaurie Kelley to Camp"Yes, I Can!" Tricia met50 enthusiastic campersand dedicated programpartner volunteers. Shevisited beneficiaryfamilies and witnessed therealities of living inpoverty with hemophilia.
Presence at NHF Annual MeetingNational Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) generously donated atable to Save One Life for a display at its annual meeting inOctober, which attracted new sponsors to our program. SaveOne Life also hosted an informal gathering that was attendedby founder and president Laurie Kelley, executive directorMartha Hopewell, board member Chris Bombardier, cyclistBarry Haarde and numerous sponsors including Derek Nelson,Jason Blyth, Kelly Hoots, Jeremy Short.
Welcome Nancy MorrisonIn September Nancy Morrison joined Save One Life as ourbookkeeper. A native ofMassachusetts, she comes with a strong background innonprofit management andbookkeeping.
Trip to IndiaFounder and president Laurie Kelley traveled to six cities inIndia in November to meet awardees of Save One Life'srecently established scholarship program, attend a hemophiliacamp in Mumbai and celebrate the 25th anniversary of theHaemophilia Chapter of Madras (Chennai).
2013 Sponsorship CampaignsWe surpassed our goal of 31 new sponsorships for our "Child-A-Day" campaign during Hemophilia AwarenessMonth and World Hemophilia Day by 48%, reaching 43.Major sponsors stepped forward to help us reach our goal of
85 new sponsorships during the “I Saved A Life” campaign inthe fall, including Wolfgang Marguerre, CEO of Octapharma(30 additional sponsorships for a total of 100), PatrickSchmidt, CEO of FFF Enterprises (19 additional sponsorshipsfor a total of 107) and George Scangos, CEO of Biogen Idec(18 new sponsorships).
