Annual Report

Building a Legacy for the Future

The Seeley Lake Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and sense of community in the Seeley Lake area…….forever!

We carry out this mission by “gathering” resources of funds and volunteers, by “giving” to local charitable and government organizations, by “growing” our assets to meet our future community needs, and by “leading” our community to a better tomorrow.

Presidents Message

Our Purpose Foundation

Board of Directors Mark Williams, President Lee Boman Scott Kennedy Addrien Marx Stan Nicholson Loren Rose Dick Seale Chris Stout Klaus von Stutterheim Kevin Wetherell

Time has flown and in our fourteenth year of existence the Seeley Lake Community Foundation continues to grow and thrive. Last year saw over $137,000 in grants, donations and investments. We were able to give out $20,400 in grants and $1,000 in a scholarship. Benefactors included Seeley Lake Elementary, Seeley Lake ROCKS, Alpine Artisans, the Senior Center and the Clearwater Resource Council. The annual banquet at the Double Arrow pavilion continues to be our major fundraising mechanism. This year the event garnered over $40,000 in profits. The theme of "Life's a Beach" saw a lucky couple head to Mexico for a week and another lucky couple take in the Seahawks/49er's football game as well as spend an extended weekend in San Francisco. Two stalwart board members left the board. Stan Nicholson, a founding member and guiding light left to pursue interests in Missoula. Dick Seale also took a leave but like Stan remains interested and supportive. Our involvement and support has helped keep the wood-stove change out program moving, expanded opportunities for kids to participate in winter sports through Seeley Lake ROCKS! and the elementary school cross country ski program, providing top level musical events through Alpine Artisans and supported water quality monitoring through Clearwater Resource Council. Continuing with the process of gathering and giving, we were fortunate to be recognized by the LOR Foundation and served as a pass through vehicle for the development of the sewer with a $500,000 grant for the construction of the sewer. The board believed that for the Seeley Lake Community Foundation to grow, we needed administrative help. We added a part-time administrative assistant to help maintain our presence and track financials. In addition, we are looking for a full-time executive director to help take us to the next level and beyond in fundraising, planned giving and grant-writing. This next year looks very exciting with opportunities and potential for our community. Our annual banquet and auction will be August 10 at the Double Arrow. This event helps charge our coffers and provides the dollars to support grants, scholarships and leadership projects. Last year 150 people and organizations contributed to our success. I hope this number continues to grow. I am truly grateful for all the support and enthusiasm from the community and the board.

The Legacy Society Helping to build the future of Seeley Lake

The Legacy Society of the Seeley Lake

Community Foundation provides a meaningful

way of recognizing individuals now for gifts that

will be realized sometime in the future. These

bequests and planned gifts will endow a stronger

future for our community, forever.

When making or updating

your will, please consider a

gift to the Community

Foundation. Consult your

estate planning attorney who

can assist you in adding one

of the following paragraphs to

your will:

“I hereby give and bequeath

$ to the Seeley Lake

Community Foundation to be

used (for its general

purposes) or (for specific

purpose).”

Or,

“I hereby give, devise and

bequeath (the residue) ( %

of the residue) of my estate

to the Seeley Lake

Community Foundation to be

used (for its general

purposes) or (for specific

purpose].”

If you are leaving the

proceeds of an insurance

policy or IRA assets, be sure

to indicate this on the

insurance or IRA beneficiary

forms because the insurance

proceeds or IRA assets will

be disposed of by the terms

of the insurance policy or

IRA document and not by

your will if they differ.

Thank you for helping us

build a legacy for the

future!
