    WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT FINES

    Theres nothing fun about fines, but unfortunately to

    maintain the integrity of the data, they often become a

    necessary tool.Here is a helpful overview to assist you in

    understanding the current MFR fines structure and the

    new changes being implemented January 1, 2014.

    Uh ohTHERES AN ERROR!

    In most instances, depending on the rule, we are able to provide

    a violation warning versus an automatic fine. This gives you timeto correct the error before your account is assessed a fine.

    In 2014, we will be extending the grace period for certain

    violations, giving you additional time to correct the error.

    If weve issued a warning and you havent corrected the error in the

    allotted timeframe, your account will be assessed a 50 fine.

    Its AutomaticDue to the impact and severity of certain errors, MFR imposes automatic

    fines. We encourage MLS users to watch closely as they input listings in the

    MLS to avoid these errors.

    Remember, the data in the MLS is only useful to its users if its accurate.

    Error Amount Amount for Repeat OffendersInvalid Compensation $50 as of Jan 1, 2014 $100, $250, $ 500 within a 2

    year period, 4thoffense = hearing

    Incorrect Listing Status $100 $200 within a 2 year period. 4th

    offense = $1,000 hearing

    Closing out more than one

    WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

    Ok, so youve gotten a fine. The two most important things to do are:

    SoYOUVE GOTTEN A FINE

    Correct the error. 2 Pay the fine.

    Beginning February 1, 2014, listings not corrected will beassessed $25 each week, up to 30 days, in addition tothe original cost of the fine. It is important to not only paythe fine but to correct it as well.

    Fines paid, yet left uncorrected after 30 days will result in MLS account and access suspension.

    Allowing unauthorizedaccess to the MLS

    Your access to the MLS is for only you!

    Providing others with unauthorized access to

    the MLS is automatic grounds for anadministrative hearing AND a fine of up to

    $5,000 and/or suspension from the MLS.

    THE ULTIMATE NO NO

    We know mistakes happen, however repeat offenders for the same

    error will have fines escalated after the first offense: $100 (2nd),

    $250 (3rd

    ), $500 and automatic hearing (4th

    ) within a 2 year period.
