A bite is not enough.
How many different ways can you peel, grate,
cook and enjoy an apple? Twenty students fromthe Faculty of Design of the University of Bolzano
look at one of their regions most common fruits
from different angles. Video in Italian thanks to

This was a very nice project. At first, I thought it
was very interesting.
Then, I thought it was very silly.
Probably, we can say it is very interesting and verysilly at the same time. Some things to think about
(nowadays, not such a minor thing...)

The other day, I was walking, and all sudden I
stepped in the body of a dead umbrella. To end up
like this, is frankly sad.
We live in a tough world, pietas is long gone.

What a Curious Seed...
Working hard with Rachele Storaiand lots of other
people: in May there will be this exhibition in
Triennale on Expo 2015.
We have to process the part on seeds andbiodiversity. We've spent the afternoon with prof.
Bocchi and other agriculture experts. They have
tons of different seeds. Most of them, very strange
and very curious. This is the one I like the most.
It looks like a scary monster, it is actually a simple
seed. Bigger than my hand.
Keep tuned for more...

SeedSavour
Another very nice project I've seen at Milan Fuori
Salone.
Sebastiaan Sennema's "Seed Savour"
There are over 7,500 tomato species, and yet only
a few are found in supermarkets. To counteract
the effects of monoculture and preserve the rich
diversity of species for current enjoyment and
future generations, Sebastiaan Sennema has
designed Seed Savour. This is a starter kit for
growing original, non-hybrid, heirloom
vegetables. It comes complete with a bamboo
spade, coconut seedling tray, compacted soil, and
screw-on head that transforms any plastic PET
bottle into a watering can. The kit is also a portal
to an online community, where own-grown seeds
(and stories) can be swapped and shared.

Maria Lai (1919/2013)
Very sad to know that yesterday Maria Lai died at
the age of 94 in Sardinia. Most likely she was the
most important Italian artist, although she didn't
get all the recognition she deserved.
At least, this time, we can't say that the best ones
are the earliest to leave

Paolo Soleri (1919/2013)
Maria Lai, Paolo Soleri. Same year of birth, same
year of death.
One spent all his life making super-duper real
utopias. Very important, very concrete, very
everything.
The other one, she spent all her life playing withsmall and fragile embroideries.
Atthe end, thesoft threads were much more
powerful then the mighty cities of tomorrow

Arienti's 230 Covers
Stefano Arienti/Copertine
Saturday May 25th, just a few days before the
Venice Biennale whirlwind sweeps over the city.Marignana/arte makes its debut with a one-man
show of Stefano Arienti.
Copertine (Book Covers) is a collection of images
that graphically display reviving geometries andperceptive modes the books of an ideal library
in an installation consisting of 230 perforated
sheets of paper. In the same way the perforations
on vinyl records and the artists new experiments
with terra cotta tiles, works poised betweenpainting, drawing, sculpture, invite us to peek
backstage and discover the secrets, the
complexity, the vitality of simple objects and
images that surround each of us every day.

The Rain Room
A fantastic project by Random International.
Rain Room is a hundred square metre field of
falling water through which it is possible to walk,
trusting that a path can be navigated, without
being drenched in the process.
Asyou progress through The Curve, the sound of
water and a suggestion of moisture fill the air,
before you are confronted by this carefully
choreographed downpour that responds to your
movements and presence.

75 Watt
Another stunning piece from Fuori Salone 2013:
Cohen Van Balen's 75 Watt.
What if the motions at the conveyor belt are no
longer dictated by the form and function of a
product, but vice versa: if the choreography of the
worker dictates the form and function of an
object? What (or who?) is the finished product
then?
In 75 Watt, a product is specially designed to be
mass-manufactured in China. The objects only
function is to choreograph a dance performed by
the labourers manufacturing it.

Paper
In the last ten years, every time I tried a digital
tool to sketch and draw, I always felt they were
crap. Then, the other day, Piero Rivizzigno, forced
me to try this "Paper" app for iPad.
I have to say that for the first time in my life, I
was usinga digital tool to sketch anddraw and I
thought it was cool and useful.

#flock
#FLOCKis a unique and very limited edition
cuckoo clock made in collaboration with Twitter.
As a technology partner for this project, Twitter
asked us to help create a wirelessly connected
clock which reacts to the activity of an individual
Twitter account.
To be given as an award to ten different brands or
companies demonstrating the most creative use of
Twitter, the intention was to make something
surprising and delightful; a charming clock which
embraces and embodies a craft aesthetic and gives
a physical presence to virtual activity.

Ssaki (Mammals)
One of the finest Roman Polanski's ever (1961):
http://vimeo.com/59553657
"Waiting for Godot" on ice and snow, without
words. Against a barren winter landscape, a figure
approaches: it's a man, pulling a small sleigh on
which another man sits, plucking a dead bird.
They stop to trade places; the one now on thesleigh takes out his knitting.
Accidents, misunderstandings, disagreements, and
an outright fight await our absurd protagonists as
their trip to nowhere continues, first with onepulling, then the other. What if they were to lose
the sleigh? What rules of civilization and
partnership would guide them then?

Two Men and a Wardrobe
Another Polanski's finest: "Two men and a
wardrobe" (1958).
Two men emerge from the sea carrying a large
wooden wardrobe. They carry it throughout the
city, but they get kicked out of a restaurant and a
hotel. Eventually they get beat up by thugs whosmash the mirror on the wardrobe. The two men
return to the sea with their wardrobe

Morderstwo (A Murderer)
Third Polanski of the day: "A Murderer", 1957.
The camera shows us a door handle and the door's
striker plate; from this angle, they form a cross. The door opens and in steps someone in a dark
trench coat. He approaches a bed in the room,
where a shirtless man sleeps. The intruder takes
out a knife. His movements are without haste, but
deliberate and efficient. Will his sleeping victimawake in time to offer resistance?
