Dustdevil Club members are considered our “premier fans” of TAMIU Athletics. Not only are you ardent fans, but with your donations you also help us compete at the NCAA Division II level. As you know, TAMIU is among the smaller DII programs, going head-to-head with many of the country’s top DII schools in the country.

Dustdevil Club gifts are used to provide scholarships, buy training equipment, and fund team travel for our 260 student-athletes. Dustdevil Club members are the cornerstone of TAMIU Athletics. Every gift, large and small, allows our Athletic Department to support the mission of the University. Besides premier athletic competition, we also provide TAMIU student-athletes with a challenging curriculum, an enriching campus life, and the opportunity to serve others in the community.

Danny Rosas came to TAMIU after a stellar career at United High School. He helped lead the Longhorns to the playoffs four consecutive years and a No. 4 ranking in the state of Texas in 2009. He was a four-time all district selection and guided his team to the sweet 16 of the Texas State High School Playoffs in his senior season. Entering his junior campaign at TAMIU, Rosas has battled his way into the starting point guard spot for the Dustdevils. He helped the team reach their fourth straight post season in 2012-13.

ATHLETICS HIGHLIGHTS

• Women’s Soccer had the best season in program history, setting six school records in the process. They were chosen to attend their first ever Heartland Conference Tournament and five players were the team’s first ever honorees on the All-Conference team.

• Volleyball finished with an overall record of 15-12, securing their first winning season since 2007 and qualifying for the Conference Tournament for the second year in a row.

• Racing out to a school record 9-0 start, the Baseball team burst into the national rankings at number 18, following wins over nationally ranked Incarnate Word and St. Mary’s. The Dustdevils early momentum carried them into the post season for the first time since 2011.

• Softball, playing one of the toughest NCAA division II schedules in the country, was able to reach the post season for a school record fifth straight year.

• Despite losing eight seniors from last season’s team and suffering a rash of injuries, Men’s Basketball qualified for the Conference Tournament for the fourth straight year.

Lizzie Prieto 16SophomoreBiology Laredo, TexasLizzie Prieto, a graduate of Alexander High School and a former district MVP, made a huge splash in her first year with the TAMIU Volleyball team. Prieto played in nine sets as a freshman, racking up 38 assists, 13 digs, and three aces. She averaged 4.22 assists per set on the year, finishing second on the team behind senior captain Daria Winckler. She helped the team to their first winning record since the 2007 season and their second straight appearance in the Heartland Conference Tournament.
