MSABC Mission Statement The Mining Suppliers Association of B.C. (MSABC) is a non-profit association, affiliated with the Mining Association of British Columbia.
Formed in 1986, it comprises suppliers, contractors and consultants to the BC mining industry who are committed to promoting the sustainability of this valuable resource. Recognizing the importance of mining to the economic well-being of the province, the mission of the association is to promote the development of a sustainable mining industry in BC by “Building a Better Future for Mining.”
To achieve this mission, the Association:
1. Promotes MSABC as the authoritative voice of BC Suppliers, Contractors and Consultants to the mining industry.
2. Is represented on the board of The Mining Association of British Columbia (MABC) and is a full partner in the campaign for positive public awareness of the industry.
3. Offers expertise and active participation in the development of governmental policy affecting the industry.
4. Is a full partner with MABC in the development and funding of activities designed to positively encourage public and political support of the industry, including:
i. MineralsEd –BC’s Mineral Education Resources Program;
ii. Mining Week – the annual province-wide celebration of mining’s contribution to BC’s economy;
iii. Mining for Miracles – the industry’s campaign for BC Children’s Hospital. Since 1988, the industry has raised over $20 million.;
iv. Numerous industry events and programs for government representatives, mining engineering students, the general public and our own members.
The future direction of our industry relies on the active involvement of its suppliers, contractors and consultants. It is the right thing to do.

Message From the MSABC Chair
Since the release of our last Membership Directory, MSABC has continued to achieve new heights, delivering a strong performance as an effective voice in support of the mining industry.
We have continued to grow our membership base and media profile. Over the past year, MSABC was featured in CTV’s
“Mining Your Future” television series, Mining & Exploration Magazine and Canadian Mining Magazine. To help improve public awareness of the direct and indirect jobs supported by mining, MSABC partnered with the Mining Association of BC to publish a “Mining Builds Communities” infographic and launched a series of Mining Week 2013 radio advertisements highlighting interesting facts about how our members support mining operations. MSABC was also a full partner in the successful Vote Mining campaign, which helped ensure mining industry priorities, economic development, and job creation remained key issues for party leaders throughout the 2013 provincial election.
Once again our networking and fundraising events continued to draw large crowds and support for our charitable causes, including the BC Children’s Hospital and Minerals Ed. In addition to our four annual Vancouver events in 2013, we hosted two additional networking events outside of the Lower Mainland as part of a series of Mining Week business luncheons. Both events, one in

Kamloops and another in Prince George, were well attended by producers, suppliers, and local government officials. We intend to host events in both communities again next year.
The success we have achieved over the past year is due in large part to the momentum built by the past-Chair, Patty Moore, her Executive, the MSABC Advisory Committee and MSABC staff. As Chair, I intend to build upon that success as we continue to host world-class networking events, engage with partners to enhance the reputation of the BC mining industry, and promote MSABC as the respected voice of BC’s mining suppliers.

Message From The Chair Of The Mining Association of BC
On behalf of the Mining Association of BC, I would like to thank MSABC and all member companies for your continuing support of our joint efforts to promote the growth of a responsible mining industry in British Columbia. MSABC member companies have strengthened our industry’s voice and extended our advocacy reach into communities in every region of the province. Although we continue to face challenges associated with global economic uncertainty, we have good reason to be optimistic for the future. Mount Milligan will open this year, Red Chris and the newly modernized Kitimat aluminum smelter will be completed in 2014, and there are many projects in advanced stages of development. To capitalize on these opportunities, producers and suppliers will need to work together, as they did during the successful 2013 Vote Mining Campaign, to ensure government, newly elected MLAs, and the general public are aware of the challenges facing our industry and the contributions it continues to make to the economic prosperity of our province.
