TRANSCRIPT

The Eighth Asia-Pacific Conference on Wind Engineering (APCWE-VIII) will be organized by CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre during 10-14 December 2013 at Chennai, India. CSIR-SERC is privileged to host the APCWE-VIII and, is enthusiastic about conducting the same with full dedication to the cause of enhancing the knowledge of wind for the benefit of mankind and environment. CSIR-SERC is a constituent national laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India, and is making pioneering contributions in the field of advanced structural engineering, including analysis and design of wind-sensitive structures and cyclone disaster mitigation.

The legacy of Asia-Pacific Conference on Wind Engineering starts with the first event held at Roorkee/India, moving on to Beijing/China, Hong Kong/China, Gold Coast/Australia, Tokyo/Japan, Seoul/Korea and Taipei/Taiwan. The APCWE is an international event conducted regularly every four years under the umbrella of the International Association for Wind Engineering (IAWE) and attended by wind engineering researchers and practitioners from around Asia and Pacific regions. The conference provides interaction among the participants which is essential for identifying and conducting need-based and relevant-based R&D and providing cost-effective solutions to challenging and complex industrial problems/environmental problems to meet the requirements of the society. The following user-communities are expected to be benefited from the conference:
