Praise Him with tuneful cymbals;
praise Him with loud cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Totally Consecrated to God were Thou from childhood and devoted in every way. The Light of Transcendent Wisdom Illuminating Thy Soul, Thou made clear the Knowledge of all that exists, explaining explicitly, and relating sangaciously the balanced order of Creation, and made of this an Occasion for more Divine Knowledged, O Holy One. Therefore we loudly proclaim that Thou speak Words of God, as Divine Sacred Teacher, and as the Church’s Bright Shining Star. And thus we extol Christ Who abundantly distributes to the world His Great Mercy.

I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who set themselves against me and who surround me.

O Lord, do not rebuke me in Thy Wrath,
nor chasten me in Thine Anger!
For Thine arrows pierce me deeply and Thy Hand rests upon me.
There is no healing in my flesh because of Thy Wrath, nor any Peace in my bones because of my sins.
For my transgressions rise up over my head - like a heavy burden they press me down.
My wounds grow foul and fester
because of My foolishness.
I suffer misery, and I am utterly bowed down – all day long I mourn, for my loins are filled with mockeries, and there is no healing in my flesh.
I am afflicted and great humbled; I roar because of the groaning of my heart.
O Lord, all my desire is before Thee and My sighing is not hidden from Thee.
My heart is troubled – my strength fails
me, and even the light of my eyes has failed me.
My friends and neighbours who draw
near stand against me, and my family stands afar off.
And those who seek my soul use violence, and those who seek evil for me speak foolishness, and they plan deception all day long.
I, like a deaf man, do not hear – and I am like a mute who does not open his mouth.
And I am like a man who does not hear and who has no reproofs in his mouth.
For in Thee, O Lord, I hope - Thou will hear, O Lord my God.
For I said: ‘Let not my enemies rejoice
over me, for when my foot slips, they boasted against me.’

He Who, avoiding scission or flux, was
from the Father Begotten as Logos, and God from God, ineffably as an Infant was in the flesh Circumcised, yet remaining unaltered in Divinity. And so in accordance with His own Law, He Who is beyond the Law, now Ransoms from the Law’s Curse the human race, and He has bestowed Heaven’s Blessings upon us all. Therefore we worthily extol and praise Him with Gratitude, and His Superlative Goodness and Condescension we Glorify, and earnestly praying, we implore Him to bestow on our souls His Great Mercy.
Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with lute and harp.
As an adopted son of God, being Reborn by Holy Baptism, Thou Confessed that He, Who in Truth and Nature before the Ages is Son and Logos of God, is Unoriginate along with the Father and Co-Essential, O Holy One. And with the brilliance of Thy words and Thy Treatises Thou has stopped the unbridled mouths of the heretics. Therefore, Thy Residence is in Palaces on High; Thou reign together with Christ Who alone does Naturlly Rule as King. O Basil: Entreat Him Who abundantly distributes to the world His Great Mercy.
Praise Him with timbrel and dance;
praise Him with strings and flute.
Into the Heavenly Church have Thou gone, O Devout One, as a Most Sacred Hierarch. Thy Vestments art Contemplation of God and the Active Life, as Wisdom’s Principles. And now, as Thou stand near to God and Thou serve as Hierarch at the Supernal Holy Altar, O Holy One, and Thou celebrate the Immaterial Liturgy, O All Blessed and Compassionate St Basil, remember us who now observe Thine All Sacred and highly honoured Memorial; to Christ pray in earnest, and implore Him to bestow on the world His Great Mercy.

I am counted among those who go down to the Pit - I am like a helpless man, free among the dead - like slain men thrown down and sleeping in a tomb, whom Thou Remembers no more, and who are removed from Thy Hand.
They laid me in the lowest pit, in dark places and in the Shadow of Death.
Thy Wrath rested upon me, and Thou brought all Thy Billows over me. (PAUSE)
Thou removed my acquaintances far from me; they made me an abomination among themselves – I was betrayed, and did not escape.
My eyes have weakened from poverty.

He does not deal with us according to
our sins, nor rewards us accoding to our transgressions, for according to the height of Heaven from earth, so the Lord reigns in Mercy over those who Fear Him – as far as the East is from the West, so does He remove our transgressions from us!
As a father has compassion for his children, so does our Lord have Compassion on those who Fear Him, for He knows how He formed us – He remembers that we are clay.
As for mankind – his days are like grass - like a flower of the field he flourishes; for the wind passes over it, and it shall not remain – and it shall no longer know its place.
Yet the Mercy of the Lord is from Ages to Ages upon those who Fear Him.
And His Righteousness is upon
children’s children to those who keep His Covenant and remember His Commandments – to obey them.
The Lord prepared His Throne in Heaven and His Kingdom rules over all.
Bless the Lord, all you His Angels – Mighty in Strength – who do His Word - who heed the Voice of His Words.
Bless the Lord, all you His Hosts – His Ministers who do His Will.
Bless the Lord, all His Works, in all places of His Dominion!

For the enemy1 persecutes my soul. He humbled my life to the ground, he caused me to dwell in dark places like one who was long dead.
And my spirit was in anguish within me - my heart was troubled within.
I remembered the days of old, and I meditated on all Thy Works – I meditated on the Works of Thy Hands.
I stretch out my hands to Thee – my soul thirsts for Thee like a waterless land. (PAUSE)
Hear me speedily, O Lord – my spirit
faints within me.
Turn not Thy Sight from me, lest I become like those who go down into the Pit.
Cause me to hear Thy Mercy in the morning, for I hope in Thee.
Make me know, O Lord, the Way
wherein I should walk, for to Thee I lift up my soul.
Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord, for to Thee I flee for Refuge.
Teach me to do Thy Will, for Thou art my God.
Thy Good Spirit shall Guide me in Uprightness.
For Thy Name’s sake O Lord, grant me Life.
In Thy Righteousness Thou shall bring my soul out of affliction – and in Thy Mercy Thou shall destroy my enemies – and Thou shall utterly destroy all who afflict my soul, for I am Thy servant.
O Lord hear my Prayer; hear my Supplication in Thy Truth - answer me in Thy Righteousness.
And do not enter into Judgement with
Thy servant, for in Thy Sight no-one living is Righteous.
1 O U R E N E M I E S ARE NOT ONLY OUR PHYSICAL, HUMAN ENEMIES, BUT ESPECIALLY THE INVISIBLE ENEMIES – THE EVIL ONE AND
HIS DEMONS WHO OBSESSIVELY AND CEASELESSLY, SEEK OUR DESTRUCTION AND FAILURE IN OUR EARTHLY AND ETERNAL
ENDEAVOURS. BUT, NO MATTER HOW THEY TEMPT US INTO SPIRITUAL DEATH, THE CHOICE IS OURS TO MAKE – OBEY GOD AND REAP
ALL THE SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL BENEFITS – SPIRITUAL LIFE WITH GOD - OR CHOOSE THE WEAKER, DESTRUCTIVE, SELF-INDULGENT
TEMPTATIONS THAT LEAD US TO SPIRITUAL DEATH AND EVENTUALLY, ETERNAL CONDEMNATION AND ALIENATION FROM GOD AND
EVERYTHING GOOD!

Having drawn out the Mystical Wealth
of God’s Inexpressible Wisdom as though from a well, Thou stored up the Waters of Orthodoxy for everyone, gladdening the heart of the Faithful with Godly Joy, appropriately drowning the dogmas of heretics. Therefore, by Thy Labours for the Truth, Thou became an Invincible Champion of the All Holy Trinity. O Holy Basil the Hierarch: Intercede with Christ our God that He grant Forgiveness of offences to those observing with longing Thy Holy Memorial.

Our Lord said to the Judeans who went
to Him: Truly, truly, I say to you: he who does not enter the Sheepfold by the Door, but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; but he who enters by the Door is the Shepherd of the Sheep.
To Him the Gatekeeper opens; the
Sheep hear His Voice, and He Calls His own Sheep by name, and leads them out.
When He has brought out all His own,
He goes before them, and the Sheep follow Him, for they know His Voice.
A stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.
This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not undersand what He was saying to them.
Jesus again said to them: Truly, truly, I say to you: I Am the Door of the Sheep.
All who came before Me are thieves
and robbers; but the Sheep did not heed them.
I Am the Door – if anyone enters by
Me, he will be Saved, and will go in and go out, and find pasture.

Spirit is God indeed, and lifting Thy hands in Prayer, Thou killed off the enemies; Thou attacked the worship that Sabellius imagined, and brought the Theology of Nestorious to an end. O Saint Basil the Hierarch, Intercede with Christ our God that He grant Forgiveness of offences to those who observe with longing, Thy Holy Memory.
> Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

Now the Grace of Thy Divinely Inspired words, and the Mystical Height and sublimity of Dogmas became for us a Ladder of Divine Ascent; for when Thou had acquired a Spiritual Trumpet, on which, O Father, Thou proclaimed Divine Doctrines. Therefore, Thou art dwelling in a place of Green Pasture, O Holy One, and receive Rewards for Thy Labours. O Saint Basil the Hierarch: Interced with Christ our God that He grant Forgiveness of offences to those who observe with longing Thy Holy Memory.
