I am a retired cosmetologist who loves fine art. I paint portraits of people, pets & landscapes from photographs of our vanishing landmarks. I started drawing at the age of 6 years, but never had the opportunity to go to Art School. I am basically a self- taught artist who has been blessed with a God given talent. I paint in pastels and oils, a little in watercolor and acrylic, but I prefer the medium of pastel. The City of Dinuba has a collection of my paintings as well as many others in private homes and abroad. I am known best for my paintings of grapes on the vine. I have won several awards for my grape paintings including Best of Show, first; second and third place awards, and numerous honora- ble mentions from ACA and SWA. I also received A Best of show from the Pastel Society of the West and the Mary Crouse award for Artistic Merit given by the Clovis Art Guild of Clovis, CA. I am a Signature Member of the ACA and a member of the Kingsburg Art Association; my paintings can be seen at the Kingsburg Art Gal- lery. I attended one semester at Reedley College with instructor James Soares. I have studied with Anita Wolf, Paul Buxman, Sally Sea- go, Jacqueline Starkey, and many other fine artists who have helped me further my knowledge of art. I appreciate all the peo- ple who have supported me to get me where I am today. I love to share what God has given me with others and I hope the art I produce will serve as a reminder of memories to cherish.

DORIS RUNYAN WILL BE OUR APRIL

DEMONSTRATOR (PASTEL)

NEXT EXCHANGE FOR OUR STOREFRONT

GALLERY WILL BE TUESDAY, MAY 1 @ 5:00 P.M.

I am a retired cosmetologist who loves fine art. I paint portraits of people, pets & landscapes from photographs of our vanishing landmarks. I started drawing at the age of 6 years, but never had the opportunity to go to Art School. I am basically a self-taught artist who has been blessed with a God given talent. I paint in pastels and oils, a little in

watercolor and acrylic, but I prefer the medium of pastel. The City of Dinuba has a collection of my paintings as well as many others in private homes and abroad. I am known best for my paintings of grapes on the vine. I have won several awards for my grape paintings including Best of Show, first; second and third place awards, and numerous honora-ble mentions from ACA and SWA. JEROME GRIMMER’S DEMO FUN & INFORMATIVE

President’s

Message Wasn’t Jerome a terrific de-monstrator? Don’t forget to sign up for the Suzanne Baker Workshop at the end of March. We still have a few spots left. I hope you are all looking for-ward to seeing Doris Runyan work on a pastel piece in April.

We had a great turnout for Pick of the Month in February and March, so please keep it up!

Gene and I hope you are also working hard on your art for the Old West Show. We had five entries for the Brochure cover and will be announcing the winner at the April Meeting. See you there.

MYTH NO 10: "They e-mailed me a copy, so I can post it." To have a copy is not to

have the copyright. All the E-mail you write is copyrighted. However, E-mail is not, unless

previously agreed, secret. So you can certainly report on what E-mail you are sent, and

reveal what it says. You can even quote parts of it to demonstrate. Frankly, somebody who

sues over an ordinary message would almost surely get no damages, because the message

has no commercial value, but if you want to stay strictly in the law, you should ask first. On

the other hand, don't go nuts if somebody posts E-mail you sent them. If it was an ordinary

non-secret personal letter of minimal commercial value with no copyright notice (like 99.9%

of all E-mail), you probably won't get any damages if you sue them. Note as well that, the

law aside, keeping private correspondence private is a courtesy one should usually honour.

MYTH NO11 WILL CONCLUDE THIS SERIES. IT WILL BE COVERED IN NEXT MONTH’S ISSUE IF WE HAVE ROOM

We would like to thank Claudia Fletcher for donating a print of this year’s Clovis Rodeo

Poster to the Guild. Tickets will be available at the Art Show and at the April Meeting.

Thanks Claudia!
