One question we are asked in Youth With a Mission (YWAM) is, Why must someone first do a Discipleship Training School (DTS) before joining us or studying with the University of the Nations? • who understand the calling and values of YWAM and the opportunities available throughout the world• with a clearer understanding of God’s purposes for their life and a sense of life directionWe are to learn how to love God with our minds; and learning from Jesus requires a deep humility of heart and of thought. A DTS provides a place for this. Finally, a DTS is five or six months out of a lifetime, concentrated on one’s relationship with God, with others, and with this needy world. Is that really too much to ask? Many who have done DTS say it was one of the most important periods in their lives. I did my DTS 21 years ago, and it still serves as a refer-ence in my life. Have you done yours? At Restenäs we offer two DTSs a year, and I am excited to now also introduce a third, mobile DTS in January 2013, taking the teaching on the road and into Swedish churches.Thank you for standing with us in equipping this generation of Kingdom Agents.

Come join our staff team at YWAM Restenäs.

Be a part of praying for the Muslim world during their month of fasting, Ramadan, from the 20th of July until the 18th of August.Order the yearly prayer guide for yourself and your congregation now!

The order can be made via: http://www.30-days.net/

Throughout the 20 years that this prayer guide has been published, we have heard many testimonies of the power of prayer. Muslims saw Jesus in dreams during the month’s prayer for their countries and people groups. Some became Christians in people groups previously completely unreached with the gospel. You can change people’s lives through prayer!

Pray for the Muslim world!

Do you want to do something important?

I did a DTS because I wanted to be challenged and grow, not only hear a lot of teaching. The DTS brings a deep transformation of your character. You see more of who God truly is when travelling on outreach, spending time with people from other countries and cultures. I learned that everything comes out of your relationship with God.

Julia Hurtig, Sweden

The School of Commu-nication Foundations (SCF) is a perfect school to learn and sharpen your communication skills. Every sphere of society desperately needs sharp

communicators who take risks with God. I was challenged to innovate while learning the as-suring truth of who I am in God.

Pappy Orion, Congo

The Bible Core Course (BCC) emphasizes learn-ing for the purpose of transformation. I learned to observe the text of the Bible with greater insight and be-

came excited about what it says. The Bible is a historical document that has vast implica-tions for me and for the world around me.

We have moved to Nepal! We’re sitting right now in Kathmandu, it’s night-time and we can see the lightning flashing across the sky. We have strawberry season and summer heat. We have just embarked on an adven-ture. We have moved to Nepal. We are actually doing what we dreamed of!

“15000 – 20000 Women Sold”

About us – me, my husband, and our three children. Our children are nearly three, almost five and seven years old and, until February this year, had lived all their lives at Restenäs. But now we live in Nepal, this small country that is squeezed in between two great countries, China and India, high up in the Himalayas. This country is Asia’s poorest, yet so beautiful. This country has extremely large challenges due to the poverty and the distorted image of women and children. This country, which each year sells between 15,000 and 20,000 of their women and girls to Indian brothels.

“We want to create work opportunities”Why does a family with three kids pack their bags and move halfway across the world for an indefi-nite time? We have moved because we long to do something about the problem of human traf-ficking. This applies to people who are currently being trafficked and people who could be traf-ficked in the future. We want to do something by creating jobs, while offering education in various ways. Of course, through this we would also show who God is, He who sees and loves every human being. He longs for each individual’s total restitution and He sees that there is hope for every person. Right now, Preston and I are studying Nepali. Nepali is exciting and challenging to learn, and we try to take one day at a time. The children attend an international, British school and are adjusting to a new school system. When I’m out on the streets of Kathmandu, I enjoy just being here. I dare to try out this life. I dare to follow my dream. I dare to follow what I believe God leads me to.

Celebrating ChildrenLearn to do right; seek justice.  Defend the op-pressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. Isaiah 1:17I recently returned from Bangladesh where I had the privilege of teaching 21 dedicated men and women who work with children in ex-treme poverty.  Some spent their days teaching children who could not afford to go to school, others worked with refugee children and still others provided basic medical support for the poor.  I am part of a team that runs a three-week seminar called the Celebrating Children Workshop.  The workshop teaches practitioners about different principles and tools for working with children at risk. The training explores God’s heart and value for children, their growth and development needs, how to discipline children and much more.  I’m not sure who was more challenged during this workshop, the partici-pants or those of us that taught.  We had excel-lent discussions, faced difficult questions and

were stretched by God’s clear instructions to take care of the weakest, smallest and the forgotten.

[Editor’s Note: We are excited to send Heather out to continue her work in the field of children’s ministry. We are very grateful for her faithful service to YWAM Restenäs and bless her in this next adventure!]
