NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

WELCOME TO THE NSCA 2012 NATIONAL SPORTING CLAYS CHAMPIONSHIP

On behalf of the NSCA, I welcome all competitors and their families to the 2012 National Sporting Clays Championship.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2012 Hall of Fame awards. The Hall of Fame inductees for shooting achievement are Wendell Cherry, Mark Kiddie (deceased) and W. Ray Newman (deceased). Glenn Lubeznik is the recipient of the duPont Service Award. The Hall of Fame Banquet will be held Thursday at 6:30 pm at the Courtyard Marriott/SeaWorld. See Lori Hartmann in Registration to purchase your tickets.

The famous Ladies Tour will be traveling to Fredericksburg, Texas on Friday with 31 seats available. The bus leaves at 8:30 am and returns at 4:30 pm. See Lori Hartmann in Registration to purchase your tickets.

Back by popular demand, wine tastings paired with cheese and fruit will be held on the Club House porch Wednesday through Sunday evenings.

The Championship Party, presented by Sportsman’s Insurance Agency, will be Friday night at the Clubhouse. The annual Top Gun Shoot-Out, presented by Liberty Golf Cars, will be held in the Shoot-Off Stadium Friday night as well. Top sporting clays shooters from around the country will battle it out to see who is the 2012 TOP GUN! For all first-time attendees, this is a show you don’t want to miss! All attendees will have a chance to win a golf cart and many other prizes!

The K-80 Vintage Game Scene II raffle gun will be drawn Friday evening. All proceeds benefit Team USA and the NSSA/NSCA All-American Teams. Special thanks to Krieghoff International for their generous donation!

Be sure to sign up for the Gun/Ammo Option at Registration. Five names will be drawn from each drawing, and then those five shooters will be given mulligans based on their NSCA class. Shooters will shoot off in the Stadium to determine the winner. All Gun/Ammo Option shoot-offs will take place Saturday evening.

Ronald McDonald Kids and Clays, “Official Charity of the NSCA,” auction will be held Saturday evening along with the drawing of the Kids and Clays annual raffle.

Two lucky winners of the E-Z-GO Team USA Shooting raffle carts will be drawn Friday and Saturday evenings. 100% of proceeds benefit Team USA! Special thanks to E-Z-GO for their generous donation! Visit the Team USA tent to purchase your tickets!

Kolar Arms has once again donated a National Sub-Gauge HOA Champion Ring in addition to the annual National Championship Main Event HOA Champion Ring. The rings will be presented to the champions Sunday evening during the awards ceremony. Special thanks to Kolar Arms for their generous donation!

Our sponsors are a critical element in the continued success of the National Championship. Be sure to visit them on Vendors Row and support those that support our sport! Have a safe and enjoyable stay in San Antonio!

Good luck,

Robert CrowNSCA Director

Want to keep up with all the action at the National Championship, even if you’re not in San Antonio? Get updates via text message on your mobile phone.

For shooters, the SMS (Short Message Service) updates will provide timely announcements about schedule changes, reminders about shoot-off times, evening events and other activi-ties. For everyone who’s interest-ed in the Nationals, regular updates on leaders, shoot results and links to scores, this will keep them in the know.

The service will be entirely optional, with messages being sent only to those who opt in, and it is stopped whenever you choose. It’s easy to opt in and opt out. To start the service, send the text message NSCA2012 (with no spaces) from your mobile phone to the short code number 444999.

You will receive a confirmation text message, which will include in-structions for opting out of the ser-vice and obtaining help. You can end the service or opt out at any time you wish by replying STOP.

Please note that your cell phone’s usual plan for text messaging will apply. If you aren’t sure if your plan charges for text messages or what your monthly limit is, check your cell phone bill or contact your provider.

The SMS program for the National Championship is being provided at no charge by Today’s Digital Solutions.

Registration Office will open Monday 8:30 am - 6 pm and Tuesday - Sunday 7 am - 6 pm. Main Event entry will close at 2 pm on Thursday.

DAILY FEE - $4 per 100 on all registered targets.

MAINTENANCE FEE - A $2 fee per 100 targets will be charged in all events shot during our National tournament. These specially designated monies will be used for maintenance and/or improvements at the National Shooting Complex.

REFUNDS - No refunds of advance deposits or prepaid entry fees after Monday, October 8 except for emergencies. A written request must be submitted.

All entries are final. After October 8, except for emergencies, entry fees will not be refunded unless the event is cancelled. Shoot management will consider emergency medical withdrawals accom-panied by a written request.

ELIGIBILITY - All participants must be current members of the NSCA. Membership applications will be accepted at the shoot. Shooters are requested to provide their social security number at the time of entry so that award checks can be sent promptly. Per IRS regulations, shooters whose cash awards total $600 or more must provide their social security number before payouts can be made to the shooter.

NO RE-ENTRY ON ANY EVENT

Only a citizen of the U.S. can be recognized as the National Champion or receive an award, money or optional purse in the Main Event. Non-citizens of the U.S. will shoot the Main Event at a reduced rate and be eligible only for international awards and monies as stated on page 40.

500 registered targets must be shot in 2012, or shooter must shoot Penalty Class in all events. *Penalty Class is one class above current classification.

RULES & REGULATIONS - All NSCA rules apply. FITASC rules apply in the Parcours de Chasse Event, including those applying to age (See page 26 for explanation of age requirements). All decisions are final.

PROTESTS AND CORRECTIONS – Corrections to scores, event and concurrent entries and entry into Special Concurrents should be reported to Registration Desk as soon as they are noticed. It is vitally important for shooters to check the scoreboard to make certain they have been entered in all events for which they are qualified as no additions or corrections to Concurrent and Special Concurrent entries will be made after 12 pm Saturday, October 27. Shooters are urged to check their scores each day as corrections to awards will not be made unless Registration is notified prior to shoot-offs begin-ning or, in the case of awards not involved in ties, before 9 pm Sunday, October 28.

Protests must be submitted, in writing, to Shoot Management by 6 pm (or 15 minutes after last shot fired) the day the event is shot. Exception: Shooters needing to file a protest on an occurrence that happened on the last flight of the day must immediately report to Shoot Management for instruc-tions. All protests must be made in accordance with NSCA or FITASC rules and will be decided by the Protest Committee whose decision is final.

The Hall of Fame Museum will be open 10 am - 5 pm during the National Championship. Be sure to visit the exhibits, new items are continually being added.

There are numerous programs for members to take part in to help support the growth and history of our museum.

The cabinet program offerS members, clubs, teams or other groups the opportunity to provide an attractive and functional display cabinet to the Museum.

Preserve our history by buying a brick for the Museum wall. Your custom-monogrammed brick will forever symbolize your support and appreciation of our sport.

Also available is a one-ounce NSCA collector coin engraved with your NSCA number.

Online forms for all three programs are available at www.mynsca.com. Call the Museum at 210-688-2574 for more information.

I cannot give enough thanks to

everyone who has sup-ported me throughout

my entire shooting career. Thank you to the NSSF/NSCA for awarding me this schol-arship. My grandparents, parents and sister deserve endless thanks for everything they have done, from finan-cial support to traveling with me to just making me smile when I was down. Thanks to all of the wonderful coaches I have worked with, for believ-ing me and being incredibly patient. All of the incred-ible friends I have made in this sport are definitely part of the success I have had. Sporting clays has taken me around the world in the past four years, and I pray to have many more successful years to come.

I grew up in the small town of Dayton, Texas, hunting and fishing with my dad and granddad and playing basketball. In 2006, I joined

the local 4-H club and began shooting skeet and trap with the group at Pecan Meadows in Liberty. After going to a few competitions with the team, I quickly realized this was something I wanted to pursue. I let go of my love for basketball and shot 4-H for almost one year. Right after

I competed in the Texas State 4-H Shoot in 2007, I decided to dive into sporting clays.

From then on, I trained and went to shoots trying to reach all the goals I set for myself. I discovered an in-credible passion for sporting

clays and became very competitive. In 2009 I complet-ed my first major goal and made my first All-American team; since then I’ve been on the Ladies 1st Team. The new love for shotgun shooting sparked an inter-

est in Olympic shooting. I began competing in interna-tional trap and in 2009 won a gold medal in the Junior Olympics. Now I shoot with the Carlisle Academy and am also blessed to be on Team Beretta and be sponsored by Pure Gold Chokes.

The people I competed with practically watched me grow up, and now they are all fam-ily to me. The relationships I built in the past few years of shooting have definitely changed my life, and I believe the awesome people in the sport are part of what makes it all worthwhile.

I will be attending Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas this fall and I hope to pursue a degree in business or law. I plan on shooting with the university’s trap and skeet team in the collegiate nationals, as well as continu-ing my personal accom-plishments in sporting clays. Throughout my entire life, I believe sporting clays will be a part of me. This sport is one that teaches determina-tion, discipline and how to succeed. For the rest of my life, I pray I can support the game just as it has supported me.

NSSF/NSCA Scholarship Winner,

Jenni Clark
