ScheduleThe 2011-12 NBA season is in full swing! The seasongot underway on Christmas Day after getting past allof the 2011 NBA Lockout drama. The current season'sschedule has 66 games set to take place this year. Thereis an overall increase in the number of back-to-back and

back-to-back-to-back games for NBA teams this season.This combined with a very short NBA training camp andno D-League play pre-season, probably means that we

will see a lot of "exciting" games occur in late Decemberand January before we start looking forward to the NBAPlayoff schedule 2012. The end of the NBA season will

occur on April 26th, 2012 with the playoffs scheduled tokick-off on June 26th, 2012.

Many people felt as though the 2011-12 (well at least 6 days of2011) would ever be played as the lockout drama played outover the summer and fall! Thankfully the players and owners

were able to work out their differences in time for a shortenedNBA season (66 games) to take place this year. The 2011-12

the season is scheduled to take place on April 26th, 2012. The

2012 NBA Playoffs are scheduled to start on April 28th

Seeding2012 NBA Playoffs seeding rewards the teams that have t

best record. There are some caveats; however, as a divisionwinner is guaranteed to be seeded no worse than #4. The othtiebreakers that are used to determine the seeding for the 20NBA Playoffs include (and are applied in sequential order):

A divisional leading team wins any head-to-head tie againsteam not leading a division.

Head-to-head record(s) against the teams in question.

Division record if each team falls in the same division.

If still tied at this point then the conference record is used.

If still tied, then the record against other playoff teams in tsame conference.

Then, record against playoff teams in the other conference.

Then, the point differential across all games played.

If there are multiple ties being settled, then as soon as one teawins a tiebreaker, the process starts over at the first tiebreakrule between the remaining teams only.

Dallas Mavericks. Now, the Clippers have Chris Paul runningthe point this season; however, they are not expected to be afavorite to win the championship (this season). The shortenedpreseason is considered by many to heavily favor the Heat withtheir perceived overall higher level of all star talent on theteam.

NBA Coaching ChangesThere were six coaching changes made prior to the start ofthe 2011-12 NBA season. Of note is the Lakers coach, PhilJackson, heading into retirement again after failing to makethe NBA finals in his final season. He is succeeded by MikeBrown. Rick Adelman was out as the lead of the Rockets buthas found a new home in Minnesota this season. No doubtthat well see a few coaching moves made during the shortenedseason as well.

Divisional winners earn automaticplayoff spots and the five teams with the best records after thedivision champs earn the right to play in the post season.
