WHAT IS MOVENTO?
Movento® is a systemic foliar insecticide belonging to the tetramic acid chemical class that offers grape growers a revolutionary tool for managing a broad range of sucking insect pests such as mealybugs and phylloxera. Research has shown that Movento also suppresses plant parasitic nematodes.
The product has a unique mode of action classified as Lipid Biosynthesis Inhibitor (LBI). It is active by ingestion against immature insects feeding on treated plants. In addition, studies have also shown significant impact on exposed female adults by reducing fecundity and survival of offspring.
Once Movento penetrates the leaf cuticle, it exhibits unique “two-way systemicity,” moving to all areas of the plant including new shoot, leaf and root tissues. This results in excellent long-term control of a broad range of sucking insect pests that includes mealybugs, phylloxera and whiteflies, as well as suppression of European fruit lecanium scale and nematodes.
Movento is from the same general chemistry class that brought growers Envidor® and Oberon.® This new chemical class and mode of action clearly establishes a unique category for crop protection products by combining many of the same desirable properties and attributes from both Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs) and classical chemistries:
BENEFITS OF MOVENTO • Acropetal and basipetal (dual direction) systemic
activity provides excellent pest control in dense crop canopies and on plant roots
• High level of residual efficacy and protection of new plant growth
• Reduced fecundity of treated females and reduced survival of offspring
• Speed of activity faster than IGRs
• Mode of action is ideal for incorporation into resistance management strategies
• Minimal risk to natural predators and parasitoids, making it an ideal addition to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs

FORMULATIONMovento® is formulated as a two-pound active ingredient per gallon suspension concentrate (SC) product. Movento must be tank-mixed with a spray adjuvant/additive having spreading and penetrating properties to maximize leaf uptake and systemicity of the active ingredient within treated plants.
TIMING AND SPRAY COVERAGEMovento is most effective when applied as a preventative or threshold treatment. Good coverage of the target plant parts, based on the size and density of the treated crop, is recommended to facilitate maximum uptake by leaf surfaces.
RESISTANCE MANAGEMENTMovento does not exhibit cross-resistance to insecticides from other chemical classes. To prevent or delay the development of resistance, it is recommended that Movento be applied in a block or window approach where chemical classes having a different mode of action are utilized in rotational sequences.
GOOD IPM COMPATIBILITYMovento is ideal for IPM programs because it does not harm beneficial insects, including predacious bugs, parasitic wasps, lacewings and ladybird beetles.
