Background Launched in 2008, the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) is striding successfully into its fifth year. It is led by the Environmental Campaign Committee alongside the Environmental Protection Department in conjunction with the other nine organizations. HKAEE is one of the most prestigious and reputable environmental awards scheme in Hong Kong. It aims to encourage businesses and organizations to adopt green management and recognize their commitment towards environmental protection. Four schemes will be offered within HKAEE, namely, “Environmental Labels”, “Carbon“Less” Certificates”, “Green Innovations Awards” and “Sectoral Awards”. About the Seminars Five seminars featuring a series of different themes (as listed below) will be organized between April and May 2012 to provide organizations with important application information and latest updates on the Awards. Guest speakers from various organizations will also share their successful experience with regard to environmental management at the seminars, reflecting a wide range of methodologies and strategies in running environmental programme in different kinds of organizations. In recognition of their active attendance, every seminar participant will be awarded with a Certificate of Attendance. In addition, a number of winning organizations will host booth display on the seminar venue to allow participants to gain insights about HKAEE and practical applications of environmental management.

About Sectoral Awards •The Awards are presented to organizations from the 11 sectors with an overall outstanding environmental performance; •Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award and Certificates of Merit will be presented to winning organizations from each sector, while SME Award will also be considered for eligible applicant in particular sector; •Other participating organizations will receive a Certificate of Appreciation if they finish the questionnaires in the Stage 1 assessment; •The assessment criteria include “Green Leadership”, “Programme and Performance” and “Partner Synergy”; and •No application fee is required.

Benefits Entitled by Winning Organizations • The winners of the Sectoral Awards will be invited to attend

a grand award presentation ceremony; • The winning organizations are entitled to the use of the

HKAEE Logo for marketing and publicity purposes to promote environmental achievement; and

• The winners will be invited to share their environmental achievement in different publicity events of HKAEE, which can be a good opportunity for organizations to enrich their brand image.

• The winning organizations are entitled to display an HKAEE Label in the form of decal sticker on the glass door/ window of offices and outlets.
