Over 1300 applicants apply to the Ford predoctoral competition for 60 awards across all

disciplines. This national competition recognizes applicants from a broad range of

disciplines who have "demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a

career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future

achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a

resource for enriching the education of all students." Congratulations to SHAWN JONES for

receiving this prestigious award, and to DANIEL LEE, ASHLY GASKIN, and MICHELLE GONZALEZ for receiving Honorable Mention!

JEANNIE LOEB and DANIEL HARPER are the recipients of the 2012 Psychology Department

Award for Outstanding Professor and Teaching Assistant this year. These awards are

determined based on votes cast by Psychology Undergrads, and will be presented by the

Psi Chi officers during May Commencement. The ceremony will be held in Carmichael

Auditorium at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 13th 2012. Congratulations to you both!

DARYL CAMERON (Social Program) and his advisor, KEITH PAYNE, had an article published in

the April issue of Psychological Science, entitled "The cost of callousness: Regulating

compassion influences the moral self-concept."

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY AWARDS

The Clinical Psychology Program Awards Ceremony was held on Friday, April 13th in Davie Hall.

The Department congratulates each student and faculty member on their achievements.

JENNIFER YOUNGSTROM (pictured left with Allison Ratto) received

the M. David Galinsky Clinical Supervision Award. This award honors

mentors who challenge us to think richly, deeply, and flexibly about

the art of clinical work and those we aspire to serve. This award was

voted on by the outgoing class.

MEGAN HARNEY (pictured right with Katy

Higgins, Lisa Brownstone, Dr. Anna Bardone-Cone,

and Ellen Fitzsimmons-Craft) received the 2012

Rosa Swanson Award. This award is presented

annually to the student, staff or faculty member

within Clinical Psychology who has helped to

foster a warm, supportive, nurturing & enjoyable

professional environment. This award was voted

on by the entire Clinical Psychology program.

These students were honored at the Annual Graduate Student Recognition Celebration on April 4th . The Department of Psychology congratulates each student for their outstanding achievements.
