Develop one or preferably two regular PDWs on international comparisons of: (a) public management reforms, (b) nonprofit management reforms, (c) public-
nonprofit-private collaborative efforts, and more. The PDWs will be cosponsored, to the extent possible, with the IB division, or other divisions that wish to promote international perspectives and participation.
Create an international "steering committee" or advisory board to promote PDWs and sessions based on international participation, as well as to promote contacts with other AoM divisions that have an international outlook (particularly IB
division). AoM and PNP could significantly enhance communication and knowledge-sharing
among members by developing and implementing a social media strategy. Indeed, the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) has significantly increased visibility in the professional community by developing a social media platform that includes Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Wiki and Blogs.

Special session on a very relevant issue (top speakers) – right before the social business meeting? (a non-profit or government official from the Academy Conference site area would be a great connection);
Special panel sessions (non-paper sessions) jointly provided with other division (e.g., with MED on the role of MPAs, MPPs on creating public value; with international management on public sectors comparison, with OB on P4P in the public sector; SIM on business and society, or government relations) – again highly qualified speakers;
What if SIG (special interest groups) were created so that while submitting the paper the Author is asked to select the thematic track (some of them could be co-sponsored by other divisions, so to have inter divisional tracks) (look at IRSPM, EGPA to have more info) ;
Follow-up with Chairs/Discussants from 2012 to see what feedback they can offer about their experiences. Find out about the good and bad experiences, what training or information might be helpful, etc.
Some first feedback (3/3)Some first feedback (3/3)
Explore cross division opportunities to increase visibility through serving as chair/discussant.
Consider hosting a PDW on a particular method/research technique that might be of interest to PNP members, and inviting a big name/ expert to lead the training; may charge a fee to generate revenue. (This is a successful strategy used by other divisions)
When asked to serve as a reviewer, if the member declines, provide them with a link to a brief survey about why they are declining this year (2011-2012). How could the reviewer experience be improved? What are the primary barriers to serving as a reviewer?
If the member completes a review, provide a link to a short survey after the review process to ask them about their experience as a reviewer and how it could be improved.
