MEET CONDITIONS & INFORMATION Swimming Auckland Age Group Invitational (incorporating the Auckland Age group Championships) is conducted under SNZ and ASA Rules and any local Meet conditions listed in this poster and in the programme. Any variation to local conditions will be published on the ASA website no later than 3rd December 2012. ENTRIES Closing Date: Closing date Monday 26th November 2012 at midnight. Late Entries: Late entries close with the Meet Controller 6th December 2012 at 12.00

noon. In accordance with Rule 2.6.2(e) all late entries subsequent to this are at the discretion of the Meet Director. LATE ENTRIES WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISION OF THIS POSTER AND ASA RULE R2.6.3. The fee for a late entry in accordance with R2.6.4 shall be $50 per entry. No late entries will be accepted in the Control Room without payment of the correct fee.

Electronic Entries: For Clubs with Team Manager Software, entries to be emailed to

[email protected] with Proof of Times Report attached. All other entries to be on ASA Entry Form.

Entry Fees: $9.30 per entry incl. GST. Entries will not be accepted unless

accompanied by full payment. One club cheque please, made payable to ‘Auckland Swimming Association’, with Fee Report attached. Send to: Auckland Swimming Association, PO Box 300 633, Albany 0752.

Entry Times: Age as at 7th December 2012. Swimmers to contest their own age group. No converted times – entries to be actual time swum. The fastest three

heats will be cyclically (circle) seeded and all heats will be swum fastest to slowest (Long Course times followed by Short Course times), followed by non-qualified entries seeded fastest to slowest.

All entry times must be achieved within the qualifying period to enter.

Proof of Times Report must be forwarded with electronic entries. Entry times must be listed on SNZ or ASA database.

Non-Qualifying Times: NQTs will only be accepted from swimmers 13 years and over when the

entry is accompanied by a $25.00 bond. This bond is refundable following the meet if the swimmer achieves the entry time or better during the meet. No bonded entries will be accepted for any events from swimmers under 13 years of age. No NQTs will be accepted for distance events (where distance events include 400m Free, 400m IM, 800m Free & 1500m Free). Any NQT entries must also have been achieved within the qualifying period and must have accompanying Proof of Times Report.

Qualifying Period: 9th December 2012 until last day of meet 9th December 2012.

1500m Free: The 1500m Free is an Open Age event and will be swum as a timed final. Entries for the 1500m freestyle will be restricted to a maximum of 24. Where required, priority will be given to the anybased on long course qualifying times, followed by short course qualifying times. The fastest 8 long course qualifiers will be given direct entry to, and will contest, the evening finals session. Reserves for the evening finals session will be drawn from the fastest heat swims. Any swimmers granted direct entry to the Timed Final are subject to the scratching rules and are required to place any scratching with the admin room within 30 minutes of the results of the heats for that event having been swum. Failure to do so will render the entrant liable for penalty at the discretion of the Meet Director.

800m Free: The 800m Free is an Open Age event and will be swum as a timed final.

Entries for the 800m freestyle will be restricted to a maximum of 32. Where required, priority will be given to the fastest qualifiers in any age group band based on long course qualifying times, followed by short course qualifying times. The fastest 8 long course qualifiers will be given direct entry to, and will contest, the evening finals session. Reserves for the evening finals session will be drawn from the fastest heat swims. Any swimmers granted direct entry to the Timed Final are subject to the scratching rules and are required to place any scratching with the admin room within 30 minutes of the results of the heats for that event having been swum. Failure to do so will render the entrant liable for penalty at the discretion of the Meet Director.

A Finals: Championship Finals are swum as a part of the Auckland Age Group

Invitational programme. All entrants to the Auckland Age Group Invitational (incorporating the Auckland Age Group Championships) are eligible for entry into the Championship Finals. Entry into the meet constitutes acknowledgement of acceptance of the rules relating to Finals.

The A Final will be comprised of the fastest 8 swimmers from the heats

(subject to withdrawals.) The Championship Medals will be awarded to the first three place getters in the A Final (whether a visitor or not).

B Finals: B Finals have been scheduled for all events up to, and including, 400m

events. In the event that there are fewer than 48 entrants per event then the B Final will be withdrawn for that event. The inclusion, or otherwise, of B Finals for specific events will be confirmed once entries have been received and the Psych Sheets posted on the ASA website.

Athletes with a Disability (AWD): The ASA has a mainstreaming policy relating to athletes with a disability.

Athletes who hold an IPC Classification are eligible to participate in this programme and will be seeded amongst able-bodied athletes on the basis of entry times. It is the responsibility of the athlete (or their Team Manager) to inform the Referee in advance of their swim and of their IPC Classification with their card showing their IPC Class and exception codes. Officials at this meet will exercise their best endeavours to adjudicate IPC athletes in accordance with their understanding of the relevant IPC Rules.

Withdrawals: NO REFUNDS for Withdrawals. All withdrawals for Session 1 are to be received at the Auckland

Swimming office by midnight Wednesday 7th December 2011. Withdrawals from the preliminary sessions 2, 4, 5, 7 & 8 must be into the AOD control room no later than 15 minutes after the end of the preceding session. Withdrawals from Finals (Sessions 3, 6 & 9) must be made no more than 30 minutes following the posting of the results for the relevant event.

Subject to the following provision, failure to swim a Final without

scratching within the required time may result in a fine of up to $50.00 being imposed (at the discretion of the Meet Director). If there is an A final only, then only those swimmers in the top 24 need to withdraw if they do not wish their times to be considered for the final. If there is a B final then those swimmers in the top 32 need to withdraw if they do not wish their times to be considered for the final.

The updated finals list will be posted (subject to technical availability) on

the ASA Live Result page of the ASA Website. Swimmers ranked lower than these numbers should check the online Finals List 1 hour after the close of the session. For those lower ranked swimmers included in the finals, fines will not be levied for failure to appear but as a courtesy to other swimmers, if you do not wish to swim the final we would ask for notification be made by txt or email in order that your vacated place may be made available to other swimmers. Information of where to txt/email will be made available prior to the meet.

Protests: Protests must be lodged in accordance with SNZ Regulation 4. The fee

for protests is NZ$50.00.

Starts: ‘Over the Top’ starts (except Finals Sessions 3, 6 & 9) and the FINA One Start Rule (SW 4.4) will apply.

Results: These will be placed downstairs on the wall by the entrance and upstairs

on the walkway at the back of the dive well. Subject to technical capacity, ‘Live Results’ will be operating during the course of the meet.

Reseeding: All heats are scratch seeded. Heats may be reseeded at the Session

Referee’s discretion. Marshalling: Except as noted for Sessions 3, 6 & 9 (Finals) there will be no

marshalling at the 2012 Auckland Age Group Championships. Swimmers are responsible to ensure they are prepared behind the starting blocks at the start of the preceding race.

Marshalling in Finals (Sessions 3, 6 & 9): Swimmers will be expected to present in the marshalling zone four races

before their Final.

Places in the Finals of swimmers who have not marshalled will be given to Alternates two races before the final is swum, and fines maybe applied. Swimmers who are unable to Marshall due to swimming previous events or for Medal Presentations are responsible for informing the Marshall before they are due in marshalling.

Once a swimmer has been removed from a Final and replaced with an

Alternate by the Marshall, they will not be reinstated, even if they subsequently present themselves.

Poolside Officials: Auckland Swimming will endeavour to obtain the necessary number of

officials but the number on poolside may be more or less than the requirement set out in SNZ rules. Clubs are to supply: Officials as requested. .

Pool Deck Passes: All swimmers, coaches, managers and pool side officials must display an

ASA identity card. No access to the poolside area will be permitted without a valid ASA pass.

Open Age Swimmers: All entrants to ‘The Championships’ are eligible for Open Age recognition.

Swimmers under 13 years of age may only enter the programme as qualified Open Age Swimmers and may only do so after consultation with their coach. No swimmer under 13 years of age is eligible for Age Group medals.

Club Points: Club points for the Hallyburton Johnson Shield1 will be:

Age Group events 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (top 8)

Club points for the Aunty Johnson Trophy2 will be:

Age Group events 5, 3, 1 MEDALS Championship: Championship Medals will be awarded to the top three place-getters in

the A Final of each event where finals are swum (irrespective of whether a Visitor or not).

Championship Medals will be presented in Sessions 3, 6 & 9. Youth: Youth Championship Medals will be awarded to the fastest three Youth

swimmers in either the A or B Finals of each event where finals are swum (irrespective of whether a Visitor or not). In the event of there being insufficient Youth swimmers in either A or B Finals, then place will be determined from the fastest Youth swimmers in the Heats. For the purposes of this meet, ‘Youth’ is deemed to be 15 years and under as of

9th December 2011. Youth Championship Medals will be available for collection from the medal table during Sessions 3, 6 & 9.

Age-Group: Age-Group Championship Medals will be awarded for all events (except

1500m and 800m events) on a ‘Heat Declared Winner’ basis from the heats sessions in the following age-groups: 13 yrs, 14 yrs, 15 yrs & 16 yrs. Age Group Championship Medals are to be collected from the medal table by Team Managers. Swimmers under 13 years of age should only consider entering this programme after consultation with their coach and will not be eligible for Age Group Championship medals.

Visitors: A maximum of two Visitor medals will be awarded in each event, by age

group, to Visitors placed in the top three by Age Group on a Heat Declared Winner basis from the heats sessions.

All participants must agree to comply with the Sports Anti-Doping Rules
