The Sam M. Vadalabene Center opened on December 5, 1984. The facility is the home to SIUE men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, and wrestling. It also serves as the indoor practice facility for baseball and track.

In 2008, the facility underwent a renovation, nearly tripling the number of chair back seats as well as adding new locker room, classroom, and office space. A new playing floor was installed. The facility was officially rededicated on February 7, 2009.

Through the years, the Vadalabene Center has been host to numerous events, including the Illinois High School Association Class AA basketball sectionals, the Prairie State Games, and the State Games of America. It also is the site for SIUE commencement ceremonies.

PracticesVisiting teams may arrange a practice time with the home coaching staff in the days preceding a game. Practice times will vary due to events previously scheduled at the facility. Written notification is required at least one week prior to that start of the game. SIUE will determine if weather and/or field conditions are acceptable. Upon arrival to your practice session, a student manager or coach will meet you and will be available to fulfill your needs throughout your time within the facility. We will provide balls, towels, game clocks, and water for your practice.
