RECIPIENTS OF AWARDS 2012 - 2013 CAROLINE BERLO Caroline has successfully completed her third year Honors Program in Accounting, with a minor in Psychology, at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. She is an active participant in campus activities including serving as President of the International Society and participating in the Catholic Church as a lector and choir member. MICHAEL CHIBANTE On March 26, 2012, Michael entered the New England Institute of Technology to major in the Automotive Collision Repair (Autobody) program on his way to achieving an Associate of Science degree. He has successfully taken on a heavy course load and looks forward to expanding on his education in the future with a Bachelor’s Degree. PATRICIA CHISNALL Patricia has just completed her second year in the Undergraduate Honors Commerce Program in the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She is also active in the Learning and Fun organization which allows her to volunteer in local Hamilton, Ontario, after-school programs. OWEN CHISNALL Owen recently graduated from Mount Saint Agnes Academy. His Work/Study program at BELCO motivated him to enroll in the two-year Mechanical Engineering Program at Niagara College in the Fall. Owen assists with feeding the homeless of Bermuda through the Loaves and Fishes Program and the Salvation Army. He also enjoys volunteering at the Bermuda, Aquarium, Museum and Zoo. AMANDA CORREIAHaving successfully completed her first year at the University of Tampa, Amanda is enthusiastic about studying for her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. Amanda was active in many charitable and community organizations while attending MSA and received the R. Gullon Shield for Heart award in Grade 12.

BRITTANY DEFRIASBrittany will be attending St. John’s University as a junior in the Bachelor of Science program, majoring in Risk Management and Insurance. She has been extremely active in the Campus Ministry community this past year and has assisted in feeding the homeless and mentoring children in the Briarwood Family Shelter.

BRENT GŰNTLBrent enters the University of South Florida as a senior in the Fall. He is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Program in Applied Science with a concentration in Networking. He is an active member of the Executive Board of the USF Car Meet organization that oversees a bi-weekly car show of about 800 participants. All proceeds from the Meets are donated to Tampa charities that help to care for the needy.

MELANIE LOPESMelanie enters her fourth year in the Honors Business Administration (Accounting) Program at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. While at University, Melanie volunteered in school fundraisers, helped the homeless, and participated in an intramural sports team.

VICTORIA MEDEIROSVictoria will be entering her third year of the Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Co-op at Brock University in Canada. She was accepted as the Alan Earp Facilitator for the Residence Action Council at Brock and assists in building a strong residence community life for students on campus.

ERIK PIMENTELErik is currently enrolled in the Associates Degree Program for Automotive Collision Repair Technology at the New England Institute of Technology. His goal is to own his own garage and paint shop. Erik is well-known at St. Patrick’s as an Hospitality Minister at the 11:00 a.m. Mass.

BRITTANY RICCABrittany will be entering the third year of a four-year Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degree program at Acadia University, Nova Scotia, in September. She is a hard-worker who wants to pursue a career as a student counselor.

TAWANA ROQUETawana loves teaching – especially young children – and will continue her Early Childhood Education at Bermuda College eventually completing her degree at Mount St. Vincent University. Tawana is very active in the community and especially at St. Patrick’s where she is both Hospitality Minister at the 6:00 p.m. Mass and Kindergarten Catechist.

KYLA SINCLAIROutstanding Teen Award for Community Service is just one of the many awards Kyla has received this year. She is extremely active in her community and participates in many charitable, academic, social, and sporting organizations. Kyla has been offered a position at both McGill University and the College of William and Mary to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree with the view to attending medical school.

MEGAN TEIXEIRAMegan’s passion is hairdressing and, after apprenticing at a local salon for the past two years, her dream of one day owning her own salon will be one step closer when she enters the Bermuda College Hairdressing course in September. Megan has also been a CCD Aide at St. Patrick’s.

MONICA TEIXEIRAMonica is enrolled in her fourth year Bachelor of Science (Biology) program at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. She has been an active participant in the International Student Society and participates at Mass as an Altar Server while at school.
