2011 Mason City MAYB River City Fall Shootout October 22-23 Welcome to the 2011 MAYB River City Fall Shootout in Mason City, Iowa, located just 7 miles off Interstate 35 and just off the Avenue of the Saints in North Central Iowa so we are easily accessible for everyone. Come spend a beautiful weekend of basketball and fun with us! All games will be played either on campus at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) or in numerous Mason City school gyms, all in close proximity. Each team is guaranteed 3 games against quality competition from the Midwest. All games will be on full courts with certified, top quality officials. Besides a weekend of basketball, there are numerous ways to make this your most memorable Memorial Day weekend ever! Mason City is the hometown of Meredith Willson, composer of "The Music Man". A sculpture of the famous composer and musician greets visitors to Music Man Square. Inside the square is the Meredith Willson Museum, filled with artifacts from his life. Just across the street are the Meredith Willson/Music Man Footbridge, the MacNider Art Museum and the newly renovated public library. The Meredith Willson Boyhood Home is next door to Music Man Square and offers visitors a glimpse into the composer’s earliest years. Mason City is also proud to have the Charles MacNider Art Museum and the Kinney Pioneer Museum, each special in their own way. Plus, the area is legendary as it was the final site of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson's concert. Mason City is also home to Prairie School Architecture with several buildings in the community designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, including the only remaining hotel in the world designed by Wright, which is now open for lodging after a recent remodeling project! The largest collection of Bil Baird's puppets can also be seen in Mason City. Make a whole weekend of vacation fun out of our basketball tournament!
