In early September, thousands of Ruby-throated hummingbirds return to Strawberry Plains Audubon Center on their fall migration to Central America. To celebrate the migration, we host a three-day Hummingbird Migration Celebration at our facility near Holly Springs just 30 minutes from Memphis, Oxford and 45 minutes from Tupelo.

2011 Hummingbird Migration Celebration Join our volunteer team, join the fun! September 9-11, 2011 In early September, thousands of Ruby-throated hummingbirds return to Strawberry Plains Audubon Center on their fall migration to Central America. To celebrate the migration, we host a three-day Hummingbird Migration Celebration at our facility near Holly Springs just 30 minutes from Memphis, Oxford and 45 minutes from Tupelo. Adults and children love the Hummingbird Banding Station. Native gardens are thick with flowers and hungry birds. Programs, hikes, and exhibits keep attendees busy from 9a.m.-5p.m. Celebration attendees: Love and learn about the birds, and bats, and gators and . They ride wagons around the 2500 acre preserve with Audubon Naturalists. They enjoy great art and crafts. And, the burgers hit the spot after a full day! Our volunteers make it possible for our staff of 7 to host over 9,000+ people! Hummingbird Celebration volunteers live along part of the migratory pathway from Memphis to Moss Point and points in between. Most of our volunteers return each year to work the Hummingbird Migration Celebration. We couldnt do it without them! Volunteer jobs: Guides for our historic home, the Davis House. Greeters to help attendees find their way as they park and depart the covered shuttles. Hosts for programs speakers and tents Hummingbird feeders! Our volunteers receive: Training Free parking Free admission when theyre not working Free festival T-shirt Free meal for the shift they work And, our gratitude!
