SELECTED PROJECT EXPERIENCEProposed G+80 Storey Tower (2011)Client: Supertech Group LimitedSenior Geotechnical Engineer for design of foundations of proposed multi-storey structure located at Noida, India. This project involved analysis and design of pile raft foundation in accordance with Indian Standards. The design involved the use of standard geotechnical analysis programs as well as 3D finite element analysis using plaxis 3D foundations. The availability of rock at deeper depth of around 30m below ground level was a key challenge in the design of foundation. Even liquefaction studies were also carried out for the project.

Slope Stabilization Works (2011)Client: Tata Power LimitedSenior geotechnical engineer for the project. The project involved carrying out slope stability analysis for 15.0m deep stepped excavation. The site consisted of medium dense sand upto 6.0m deep underlain by completely weathered rock. Since there were space constraints for required slopes due to existing highway, slope stabilization was proposed. The stability analysis was carried out using software called Talren. Ten rows of soil nails of around 10.0m length spaced 1.5m c/c were proposed along the entire length of the slope. The project also involved grouting and lining along some stretch of the slope.

Proposed High Rise Tower “Orchid Turf View” (2010)Client: DB Realty LimitedThe project involved 3D finite element analysis of raft foundation for the project. The state of rock at founding level was in moderately weathered condition. The modulus of elasticity of rock material was determined using footing load test conducted on site (Insitu load test). Dial gauges along with extensometers were installed for accurate determination of modulus of elasticity of rock.

Proposed Residential and Commercial Multi Storey Towers (2010)Client: Mantri DevelopersSenior Geotechnical Engineer for design of foundations and shoring systems for the project located at Bangalore. The project involved 3D finite element analysis of raft foundation for the project. The key element involved determination of depth of foundation and differential settlement since rock levels were varying to a large extent within the plot limits. Also detailed study was carried out in determining the modulus of elasticity of soil and rock.

Proposed Oil Refinery (2010)Client: Indian Oil CorporationSenior geotechnical engineer for the project. The project involved design of pile foundations and ground improvement schemes for various structures of oil refinery located at Orissa, India. Both driven and bored pile foundation design were carried out for the project. Since the site was located in moderate to severe earthquake zone, liquefaction analysis was carried out. For some structures ground improvement schemes like stone columns and preloading were proposed.

Proposed Hard Rock Tower (2007 to 2008)Client: Kingdom of Abu DhabiThe proposed towers (G+80 & G+21 storeys) located on adjacent plots on sheikh zayed road in Dubai, is supported on a pile foundations. The design was carried out as per British standards. As a design engineer for the project my responsibilities included complete design and analysis of 1500mm and 2000mm diameter rock socketed piles and secant pile wall and diaphragm walls for 15.0m deep and 21.0m deep excavations. All piles were bored cast insitu piles. Three levels of prestressed ground anchors were proposed for secant pile wall and for diaphragm wall, four rows of prestressed anchors were proposed. Crack width analysis was also carried out for piles using DIN standards. There was underground tunnel proposed between the two towers passing through shoring systems.

Piling and Shoring Works at Meydan Racecourse (2009 to 2010)Client: MeydanThe project involved design and analysis of piles and shoring works at Meydan race course in Dubai.Design was carried out as per British standards and Eurocodes. Micro piles were designed to support 31m high and 100m long LED screen installed at the racecourse. Bored cast insitu piles were proposed for the main structure. Diaphragm wall was proposed for the entire canal excavation. Shoring analysis was carried out using software “Wallap” as well as 2D finite element analysis.
