This is the entry level qualification for students wanting a career in the Massage Industry. Upon completion, graduates may register with the Australian Association of Massage Therapists (AAMT) or Association of Massage Therapists (AMT). Completion of the units in Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice will enable the student to: Communicate effectively with clients and other health care professionals using specific health and medical terminology. Perform a consultation and screen clients for symptomology of common contraindications and indications. Plan, perform and apply full body Swedish massage techniques. Learn all legal requirements, occupational health and safety requirements, ethics and record-keeping essential for working in the massage industry. Students will learn about human anatomy and physiology of the function and structure of the human body. Give accurate information and home care advice to enhance patient health and well being. Build the leadership, marketing and customer service skills required to run a successful massage therapy practice for self employment. Course Duration The duration of this course is 25 teaching weeks. Student Course Progress is monitored by the supportive ACIT team. This course includes a student clinic component to assist students with valuable hands on experience in a supervised environment. This ensures our students gain confidence in not only the assessment and treatment of their clients but also the procedures required to work in a clinic environment. The 25 week duration consists of 2 x 10 week terms and 1 x 5 week term. We offer 4 intakes a year (subject to minimum numbers) January, April, July and September. Not included in this 25 weeks duration are holiday periods between semesters. Holiday periods are as follows; End of January term 1 week holiday End of April term 2 weeks holiday End of June term 1 week holiday End of September term end of year break approx 8 weeks break

This qualification is assessed by practical, written, role plays, assignments and massage clinic. Upon successful completion of this qualification students will be eligible for a HLT40307 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice.

International student entry requirements for this course: It's a requirement for enrolment and for the grant of a student visa that students establish their English language proficiency. How you can do this depends on your passport and Education Sector, which determine your Assessment Level. Some levels can use the ACIT test (80% or above, only available at ACIT) to establish their competence. Other levels need IELTS 5.5 or equal (or higher) or certified proof of successful Foundation, Certificate IV or higher studies.
